God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 557: Dark Net (3).

However, in a certain part of this huge sprawling, yet devastated City, was a dome of darkness.

This dome of darkness spread to cover a fairly large area, but compared to the res of the destroyed city, it was a small, almost insignificant portion.

And yet...

Within this dome of darkness, were hundreds of Devils; some small, and otjer larger than buildings.

On the other hand, there were merely ten humans...

Gatotak, the giant {Flame Devils} stared at the huge dome of darkness covering the skies above.

"This looks like human sorcery. Did those damn turtles finally crawl out of their shells?"

The giant {Frost Devils} and {Flame Devils} are quite unique Devils. They are more of mutations of regular Devils with high elemental affinity of nothing else.

What makes them truly frightening, apart from their size, is their ability to use the elements to their advantage.

However, just like regular Devils, they retained their intelligent nature, capable of speech and the likes. At a certain Tier, they are even capable of manipulating their size completely.

For what its worth, calling them siege engines would be the most accurate description to make considering their abilities, durability, and terrifying range of destruction and havoc they cause.

The {Flame Devil, Gatotak}; a towering behemoth, clad in pitch black, shining exoskeletal material adorned a giant red, glowing gem at the center of its chest piece.

"What do you think, Ba\'logth?"

The {Frost Devil}, in comparison to the {Flame Devil} wasn\'t too different, and yet had its own defining features.

Besides the familiar exoskeleton, its gem embedded within its center piece was a glowing light blue.

Floating above and around the creature, were shards of ice as long as steel bars, and as wide as walls.

Compared to the {Flame Devil} that hefted around a large Greatsword as large as itself, the {Frost Devil} needed no weapons.

Staring into the distant black wall of darkness, Ba\'logth, the {Frost Devil} remained as indifferent as ice,

"Whatever the sorcerery is, they are within the City. The mothers will sense them soon."

Gatotak grinned viciously,

"How about we just drag them out of their hiding holes, them skin and eat them here?"

Ba\'logth frowned, "Have some control. A human with the ability to cast something like this is no small foe."

Gatotak sneered, "A human is a human. They are prey, nothing more, nothing less. In all the times I\'ve been sent back to the othershore, never has it been by a human."

Ba\'logth snorted, the air produced creating a cloud of ice crystals. Without wasting any time, the {Sentinel Drones} floating around him spread out to form a web.

"Find the humans." His voice reverberated through the ground and air.

Meanwhile...

Feet hitting the ground lightly, Cain dismissed his gauntlets and summoned {Platinum Genesis}.

A streak of displaced air exploded violently behind him as his speed skyrocketed once again, reaching speeds many times beyond what was achievable by a human body.

The plan was simple...

Within the confines of the spell; {Summon: Soul Deity of Darkness}, the power of darkness summoned by the Dark Deity was absolute.

Meaning this portion of the world was a blank space. No information could come in or out.

With that in mind, this meant, that for this duration, they woild be able to make as much noise as they wanted without alerting the Devil Spire.

Which also meant they could kill every single creature within this space with peace of mind.

And so, with that thought in mind, Cain bore his teeth into a feral grin.

At the same time, the other humans began coming out of the wood works.

Appearing on a distant building, covered in a cloak of invincibility, Jenny silently took the approaching {Sentinel Drones} down with her sniper rifle.

Floki smashed his weapon against his shield and roared in a loud voice,

"Come for me, bastards!"

All Devils, great and small, could hear his courageous roar. Filled with dread, Floki refused to back down as a wave of Devils rushed at him, thirsty for blood.

Behind him was Rollo, Manny, Roselle, Susan, and Luke.

They drew their weapons, ready to stand with him.

Taking a deep breath in, Floki dispelled his fear and charged forward. Ice elemental mana gathered at his shield until merely gazing at it filled one with a horrid chil.

Ba\'logth frowned, "There. The humans are there."

Gatotak, chuckled as it drew its large blade,

"See what did I tell you? Was that so difficult?"

Suddenly, time seemed to come to a close...

The {Frost Devil}, Ba\'logth, was it especially vividly.

Seeing the chance, Cain didn\'t hesitate to take it.

The air on his lungs burned as he once against increased his speed...

Then he dashed forward. With his speed, it was impossible for his to dodge, so the {Fallen Stars of Orion} was cast. Teleporting out of the way to avoid obstacles, he quickly increased his pace.

The ground beneath his feet was scorched with fire.

Under the somber moonlight, {Platinum Genesis} was even more beautiful.

However, that was quickly done for, as a sticky, almost viscous energy poured out of his body, and into his arms.

At the same time, a wave of blue flames ignited beneath his feet, immediately turning him into a burning rocket.

He was moving so fast, all the oxygen in the air around his was getting burnt up.

In a split second, he arrived before his target.

Cain\'s eyes burned with a wicked fury as he poured a devastating amount of mana into his sword.

The blade turned as radiant as a star. The ground beneath them shattered as all the smaller Devils were blown back.

Ba\'logth yelled, his voice laced with panic,

"Watch out!"

However, as always, it was too late...

Gatotak was a large, mighty being. However, Cain has experience felling large, mighty beings.

His blade was swung forward, bringing with it, a wave of death.

The {Mana Blade} created was like the sharpest of blades, shearing through bone, skin and muscle im equal measure.

A loud crackling noise, resembling that if thunder echoed out, but was blocked by the dome of darkness.

Cain clicked his tongue, \'Damn it!\'

At the last moment, the giant {Flame Devil} a

Had managed to tilt its head sideways a bit, avoiding its proposedly less that fortunate fate.

Because of that, what he had claimed wasn\'t a head, but an arm, and a decent portion of torso and shoulder.

A loud roar escaped from the lips of the Devil as it fell to the ground. At the same time, manh more flying Devils fell to the ground, killed by the remnants of the attack, and the shockwave.

A storm of ice crystals swirled around that immediate area. A wicked chill pierced through Cain\'s heart, body, and soul.

The ice crystals poured down from the skies, attempting to tear his body to shreds.

With a snort, a torrent of flames poured out of his body, creating two wings of flames.

The flames reduced the intensity of the frost. Ignoring the frost giant, Cain dashed for the falling {Flame Devil}. Compared to the Devil, Cain was as small as an ant, but as deadly as a grim reaper.

With a roar, Gatotak steadied his footing. With eyes filled with blazing flames, even more furious fire poured out of its body as it swung its sword.

The ice crystals instantaneously evaporated, turning the wicked chill into a memory.

The flames surrounding Cain that was meant to protect him from the wicked chill distorted for a moment before breathing into hundreds of feathers.

"What?!"

Cain\'s eyes widened in surprise.

\'What kind of flame control is this?!\'

Gatotak swung his blade at Cain. With no intention of even getting close to the building-like blade, he ran away.

"Damn it!" Gatotak stumbled to the ground, a river of blood flowing from his mouth and open wounds.

Ba\'logth frowned, "Don\'t let your guard down! They are still here. Gorgon! Help him!"

The other {Flame Devil} trapped within the dome of darkness was a little bit farther away from them.

Although this one was a bit smaller that Gatotak, it didn\'t look any weaker. As Gorgon tried making his way other, chains of light surrounded it.

Shadows poured from the ground and sky consuming it. The Devil struggled against the chains, but was ultimately unable to break free.

In the end, it was swallowed by the shadows, leaving nothing but stillness behind.

The {Frost Devil} stared in amazement.

Gatotak had already begun healing. And rapidly at that. A Devil\'s vitality was a scary thing after all...

Ba\'logth remained calm. In a cold voice that responded greatly, he spoke,

"Show yourself, human. Do you only know how to run like a mice and strike like a snake?"

Cain\'s voice came a second later,

"Tell that to all the humans you\'ve murdered."

\'There!\'

With eyes shining like a bolt of lightning in a storm, Ba\'logth summoned a blizzard of frost crystals.

The blizzard concentrated into something of a beam, before smashing towards the area it believed Cain would be.

The ice crystals froze and destroyed everything they came in contact with. Even the ground itself wasn\'t spared.

When the dust settled, there was only silence...

Ba\'logth snorted, the hundreds of smaller Devils that had finally gather at his feet roared.

"Find him." The Devil pronounced coldly.

With that, the terrible monsters jumped into the fray.
