God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 556: Dark Net (2).

And that was because trying to move silently in heavy armor, was very difficult.

While he could dismiss the armor and summon it before battle, doing that would waste too much time, and he could be attacked before the armor's individual pieces came together.

A scowl decorated Lukas' face,

"That bastard said we should move towards the Old plaza where that fountain is..."

Floki raised a brow, "Why? Aren't we supposed to..."

Lukas waved a hand, "Enough of that, big guy. Let's go."

A frown appeared on Floki's face, but he fought his displeasure back.

"I'm trying my best to move silently, but all this armor gets in the way." Floki finally said.

Lukas growled, "If you don't hurry up, I'll just leave you behind."

Floki's eyelids twitched, 'Annoying prick!'

Eventually, he decided to get rid of all the armor.

A soft light enveloped his body as he got rid of his armor.

They were currently hidden within a building without a roof. Hiding within the shadows ocast by the walls, they were safe so long as no {Sentinel Drones} appeared.

"The plan is simple..." Lukas began.

Silence...

Floki fought the urge to yell,

"Get on with it, would you?!"

Lukas chuckled, then frowned. His expression fluctuated between them a few more times.

Floki frowned, 'Is he insane?'

He hadn't interacted with Lukas for long. In fact, he had only ever seen him once before. And that on the ship.

He had no idea what his character, his motivations, and his ambitions were like.

So he could only judged based on what he had seen so far.

And that judgement has led him to believe that while Lukas was incredibly strong, almost too strong infact...

He also had a few marbles loose...

Lukas eventually spoke,

"We'll circle around this place as fast as we can."

Floki frowned, "I'm not fast enough to escape from the {Sentinel Drones} detection."

Lukas grinned, "I have something with me that might work. I can sell it to you, if you want."

Floki narrowed his eyes,

"What is it?"

A subtle glow enveloped Lukas' palm. A shiny and polished helmet forged from white gold appeared in his hands.

A the sides of the helmets were decorations; platinum wings, while at the dead center, was a white, almost translucent gem.

Lukas grinned, "This beauty is called the {Helm of Righteous Threading}. Forged by the High Mountain dwarves from another world."

Floki took the helmet, a skeptical look on his face,

"This..."

Reading through the description quickly, his eyes widened in shock.

"Incredible."

The helmet was meant to increase his defense very lightly. Meaning its strength wasn't in its defense. Rather, it was in the two skills attached to it.

The first skill, {Bridled Defense} created a shield that would activate the moment he was attacked once. Meaning he was a bit safe from sneak attacks and long range sniping with the helmet on.

The second skill, {Blessing of the Mountain Goddess}, increased his speed by how heavy he was, as well as making him lighter.

Floki was incredibly huge. Especially since he was a victim to the ungodly beastly mutation that befell the inhabitants of the central island.

However, he had never been truly concerned about it. For one, he became huge. His physical strength and physique also becomes many times greater than that of a human for every stat points he possesses.

The downside of this, it that his speed is greatly reduced...

With {Blessing of the Mountain Goddess}, this disadvantage is greatly reduced.

At least for a moment...

The skills duration was a measly sixty seconds. Meaning he wouldn't have a lot of time to use it.

However, for this case, that was more enough...

The increase was based on his weight. Not only that, but with the help of magic, he would also be lighter, further boosting his agility. With these two combined, it would be outstanding.

The only problem was...

Floki breathed in deeply...

"What do you want for it?" He said, trying to hide his excitement.

Lukas' eyes narrowed dangerously,

"If I say I want you to help me assassinate Cain, would you agree?"

Floki shook his head almost immediately,

"Don't get me wrong. I'm not that loyal to the guy. But if you want me to do something so stupid, the reward has to make it worth it. You also need to guarantee he dies."

Lukas chuckled, "Is that so... Then forget about it for now "

He continued with a smile,

"If you want the helmet, then fine. But you'll have to owe me a favor."

Floki's frown deepened, "A favor?"

Lukas nodded, "Yes. And I can claim it at any time in the future. What do you say?"

Floki thought about it for a while, but eventually shook his head.

His eyes narrowed as he stared at Lukas,

"I don't trust you enough. Favors are debts, and I do not like to owe debts. Especially to someone who's intentions aren't clear."

Although he really liked the piece of equipment, Floki wasn't ready to make a deal with the Devil for it.

Lukas looked disappointed, "Is that so... Then I can give you another offer. A thousand Light attribute elemental mana shards."

Floki gritted his teeth, "That's too much! Way to expensive!"

Lukas snorted, "You refused my initial offers. You are lucky the deal is still on the table. So do you want it or not?"

Floki fell silent...

Then he quickly checked how many system points he had left...

He gritted his teeth, "What grade of mana shards?"

Lukas chuckled, "Since I still want to be in your good graces, I'll take Grade Four mana shards."

Floki snorted, "Are you fucking kidding me? Isn't that daylight robbery?"

Lukas sighed, "Alright. Grade Five, but you and your men will assist my men and I from now onwards."

Floki shook his head, "Grade Four, and consider it a deal."

Lukas put his hand forward, "Consider it done..."

Floki let out a sigh, cradling his helmet.

Placing it on his head, he summoned his armor, further increasing his weight.

"Alright. I'm ready."

With a chuckle, Lukas summoned the rest of his armor.

His longsword was strapped to his waist, and with a swift movement, he drew the blade.

Bloodlust oozed out of him for a moment, but a split second later, it all disappeared, leading Floki to believe it was an illusion.

Taking a step forward, his body flashed out of existence, not even leaving an after image behind. Floki followed behind a split second later.

His huge body became unnaturally agile, as he ducked through the gaps between the buildings with incredible speed, careful not to pass through the areas without much coverage.

The sensors of the {Sentinel Drones} was incredible. However, it was still possible to avoid them.

While they could see through walls, it wasn't an ability that was constantly activated.

As long as the ability wasn't activated in the general location, then it was safe.

Exploiting this weakness, Floki and Lukas dove in and out of the shadow, careful not yo make a lot of noises.

Most likely, the sensors would pick the sounds to and mistake them for smaller Mutant Creatures that were difficult to catch with hardly any gain to be acquired from their bodies, leaving them be.

In a few minutes, they were already in the plaza.

Coming to a gentle stop, Lukas looked up from behind a building with a frown,

"So of a bitch!"

Floki was gobsmacked, "What the hell?!"

Staring at the giant, towering Devils, harbingers of mass destruction, Floki spoke through gritted teeth,

"What the hell are {Flame Devils} and {Frost Devils} doing here?!"

Lukas almost yelled,

"Beats me! And that freaking Hunter said we should come here. We've been had. So this was your plan all along, huh Cain... Nicely done!"

Hunter's voice suddenly came through amidst the curses and swears,

'Lukas, you there?'

'You fucking set us up!' Lukas yelled inwardly.

Hunter remained calm, 'Relax, would you? We are here as well. Why would we set you up?'

Lukas sighed, 'I see... So you want us all to die together. That's romantic, but I'm not interested.'

Hunter sighed as well, 'I'll put you over to Cain. He'll explain his plan.'

'What? What plan?!'

Cain's voice suddenly resounded within Lukas' head,

'Lukas?'

Lukas thought as loud as he could,

'Caij, you flipping bastard! You want us all to die here?! There are three giant Devils here. Three!'

Cain chuckled, 'Calm down. I have a plan. A plan that will get us all out of here safely.'

Lukas' rage finally mellowed out,

'What plan exactly? What do you want to do?'

Cain chuckled, 'Wpild it be more fun to tell you, or would you like to see for yourself?'

Lukas frowned. Just as he was about to say something, Cain spoke,

'Oh, the final participants have arrived.'

'Cain, what's going on?' Rollo said.

Cain chuckled, 'Sonce everyone is here, we can begin.'

A torrent of mana filled the world as darkness flooded the sky.
