Chapter 100: Journey with a Glow Stick
: I'm getting chills.
: It feels like we're just sinking deeper and deeper into the ocean… it's terrifying.
: This is too scary. Please talk more, Kisaragi-kun!
: No way. I can't handle this kind of stuff.
: I'd rather deal with ghosts or zombies. This is raw, primal fear.
"…This is kind of funny, so can I just stay quiet for a while?"
: No!
: Don't enjoy this!
: Is this payback for all the times we teased you?
: This is unforgivable!
: Please, keep talking, I'm begging you! This is terrifying.
: The sea looks mystical, but it's all an illusion… This is seriously scary.
It's amusing to see viewers who are usually so tough and lively in the comments actually getting scared this time, so I think I'll keep quiet for a bit and enjoy this.
I'm currently running through the 25th floor. The light is starting to dim, and my visibility is becoming seriously limited. The camera is still being carried by Tenko, following me as I move, but it's getting to the point where ignoring the monsters along the way is becoming tedious due to their increasing numbers.
"Sagojo."
I needed something that could move freely underwater… Initially, I thought of a kappa, but that didn't seem impactful enough, and honestly, summoning just a kappa wouldn't be very useful in combat, so I decided to borrow the name instead.
: Sagojo!?
: Isn't that a kappa?
: This doesn't look like the Sagojo I know.
: Where's the kappa!?
: The appearance is completely different, lol.
: Kisaragi-kun, do you even know who Sagojo is? Did you just make this up on the spot?
: No, this is actually a pretty accurate version of Sagojo.
: How!? This isn't a kappa at all!
The Sagojo I summoned is a reptilian humanoid, wearing a skull necklace and wielding a trident. Its face resembles a crocodile's, with sharp fangs visible as it swims effortlessly through the water.
The people commenting that it's inaccurate are probably thinking of the version of Sagojo from Journey to the West, while those saying it's accurate might be more familiar with the original depiction in Xuanzang's Great Tang Records on the Western Regions. Yeah, I admit that using the name Sagojo is a bit confusing. Experience new stories on m v|l e'-NovelBin.net
What I actually summoned is closer to Jinsha Taisho (the Deep Sand General), but if I summoned the actual Deep Sand General, something as overwhelming as when I summoned the Great Owatatsumi God would probably appear, so I deliberately lowered the power level by naming it Sagojo. Though its appearance was my creation, the entity inside is still something I've summoned.
It's not as stable as the Twelve Heavenly Generals, but I think I've gotten pretty good at pulling this off.
: This is terrifying.
: Kisaragi-kun's summoned Sagojo is scary, and the monsters coming out of the sea are scary, too.
: What is even happening in this stream?
: Isn't this always how it is?
: Yeah, this is typical Kisaragi-kun madness, lol.
: Kisaragi really can do anything.
: Can you just push all the way to the bottom of Nagoya Dungeon now?
: How many floors does the bottom of Nagoya Dungeon have?
: How many did Sapporo have again?
: About 80.
: Where are we now?
: 26.
: Isn't that way too far?
As I continue running at a decent pace through the 26th floor, a shark about two meters long suddenly appears and charges at me. Sagojo immediately reacts, overtaking me and slicing the shark in two with his trident. I mean, how do you "slice" with a trident? That doesn't make any sense… or maybe I shouldn't think too hard about it?
Unlike the Shikigami I fully create myself, the ones I summon sometimes act beyond my expectations. In this case, I didn't think Sagojo could swim faster than me, even in water. With this kind of speed, reaching the 34th floor will be a breeze.
"And here we are—the highest floor reached so far in Nagoya Dungeon."
: You mean your highest floor, right?
: It's so dark.
: You can't see anything beyond this point.
: Can you even move forward in this?
: No way.
: This isn't a dungeon that humans can conquer.
: Wait, does this mean that with Tenko's power, Kisaragi-kun could dive into the Earth's deepest oceans too?
: No way… We're entering a new age for humanity.
: For real?
"…Can I just move on now?"
Why would I be sent to explore the deep sea? I prefer dungeon exploration, thank you very much. People talk about the deep sea as a mystery, but dungeons are just as much a mystery to humanity.
As some comments mentioned, now that we're at the 34th floor, it's so dark that I can barely see ahead. It's still somewhat manageable, but at this rate, by the time I reach the 40th floor, it'll be pitch black.
"I'll try lighting up my sword with magic as we move ahead."
: Kisaragi-kun with a glowing sword—it's basically a lightsaber!
: It's less a lightsaber and more like those lights at construction sites, lol.
: Lol.
: That's just a glow stick, man.
: Don't call it a glow stick, haha!
: Now that you mention it, it does look like one of those guiding lights.
"…How's this?"
: Why can you change the color!?
: Don't make it red, lol.
: That's literally a guiding stick!
: How is this even possible?
: Turn it into a rainbow-colored glow!
: Make it a gaming sword!
You guys sure ask for a lot… If I made it rainbow-colored, it'd look more like a glow stick from a concert than a "gaming sword," you know?
"How about this?"
: Stop making it orange like a UO glow stick!
: It's way too bright!
: He can really do anything, lol.
: The fact that his first thought was a UO glow stick shows just how much of an otaku Kisaragi is.
: He's doing this on purpose, right?
Of course, I'm doing it on purpose. The viewers seemed to enjoy it more than I expected, so I'm just having fun. If I were serious about visibility, white would be enough. But when you mention guiding sticks, gaming lights, and glow sticks, the otaku in me just has to go along with it, right?
Anyway, enough playing around… I'll stick with white for proper visibility.
: Oh, we're back to the glow stick.
: Stop calling it a glow stick, lol.
: Yeah, for visibility, white is the best choice.
: So, you're finally moving forward, huh?
: After all that playing around, how can you be serious now, haha?
: But the deep sea is terrifying.
: We're not in the deep sea yet, though.
: There's still a little light left.
"Based on my prediction, by the time we hit the 40th floor, there will be no more light left. That's why I need to have this glow stick ready."
: We're really calling it a glow stick now…
: Why does he sound so happy about this?
: The fact that Kisaragi-kun is having fun with glow stick jokes is hilarious.
: You're having a blast at the highest floor, lol.
: Let's go even deeper!
Since the viewers are so eager, I'll keep descending into this deep, dark world… into an unknown realm where no one knows what awaits.
