Chapter 94 - 94 Master Stone is Also a Talented Actor
The engagement day was getting closer and closer, but compared to the Green family, the Piers family seemed much more indifferent.
Apart from practicing Tai Chi with Abigail and the old man every morning and evening, Brandon Piers hardly ever showed up.
He was even less concerned about the wedding banquet, leaving it entirely to the Piers family butler to handle.
Several times Ruby Green wanted Brandon Piers to help her pick out the wedding dress for that day. Brandon always had Pullan brush her off.
Abigail was busy, though.
Unlike Brandon’s indifference, Clark Stone occasionally contacted Abigail to discuss engagement matters. He specifically emphasized his intention to come to the Piers’ Mansion. After Abigail refused him several times, he was undeterred and brought the wedding dress over today.
His attitude seemed as if the previous disagreements had never happened.
Abigail came downstairs and saw the young man in a formal suit, standing respectfully and reservedly in front of Elder Piers. She almost forgot how he once had people bind her and take her to a hotel and how he, in a rage, threatened to kill her in the Stone household.
“Abigail, you’re getting engaged on the 23rd too? Why didn’t you say so sooner? I would have given you a break.” Elder Piers, who had been practicing Tai Chi with Abigail, was feeling much better and became quite close to her. This was the first time he heard that Abigail was also getting engaged on the 23rd. After the initial surprise, he said sympathetically.
Abigail glanced at the true pervert and smiled back, “It was a family arrangement, a bit rushed. But now Teddy can’t do without me. Taking a break on the engagement day isn’t too late.”
“Oh, I see. That would trouble young Master Stone quite a bit.” Because of Abigail, Elder Piers was more polite to Clark Stone, though he was puzzled. Brandon and Miss Green’s engagement was already considered rushed. Abigail and the Stone family’s engagement was even more hurried, and they chose the same date. He couldn’t help but glance at Abigail’s belly.
Elder Piers wasn’t a conservative man. He probably thought Abigail was pregnant, which was why the two families were in such a hurry.
“No trouble at all, it’s my duty.” Clark Stone’s demeanor was gentle. When he said this, his gaze fell on Abigail with a hint of deliberate affection.
Elder Piers waved his hand, “You two lovebirds can talk.”
“Thank you, Grandfather Piers.” Clark Stone thanked him familiarly.
Abigail frowned.
Once Elder Piers left, Abigail coldly looked at the pretense before her, “Master Stone, what are you up to today?”
“Abigail, that’s too harsh. I’m soon to be your fiancé. Picking a wedding dress for my fiancée is my duty.” Clark Stone took no notice of Abigail’s expression, affectionately stepping forward.
Abigail felt goosebumps from this sickening “Abigail” and took a step back, “Thank you, Master Stone.”
“No need to be so formal with me.” Clark Stone seemed oblivious to Abigail’s sarcasm. His tone grew closer as he glanced around the antique Piers’ Mansion with excitement in his eyes. He called out behind him, “Bring it up.”
At his words, three wedding dresses were immediately carried in.
Soon, they stood in a row in front of Abigail.
Clark Stone’s smile grew broader. He had heard before that the Piers family had an old mansion halfway up the mountain, a century old, with carved beams and painted rafters, comparable to Marine City’s gardens. Seeing it today, he only thought it was even more exquisitely renovated than those gardens, something money alone couldn’t buy.
This glimpsed the Piers family’s profound heritage.
And now, as long as he lowered himself to marry this fat girl, he would become the brother-in-law of the Piers’ second son. What an honor that would be!
With this thought in mind, Clark Stone looked at Abigail with even more tender care. “Abigail, which one do you like? If you don’t like any, I can have one custom-made overnight.”
In that tone, if Abigail hadn’t seen the cruelty in his eyes before, she might have been touched.
The stylists carrying the three wedding dresses looked at Abigail with envy in their eyes. This fat girl was truly lucky to have such a rich, handsome, and loving fiancé like Master Stone.
Abigail’s eyes shone with ridicule. Clark Stone and Ruby Green truly deserved each other, both top-tier actors!
