Chapter 662 - 664: 658: Precious Beast Ticket
Countless crystals shattered, the visible substance of the shockwave had not even erupted before being devoured by the Ice-Fire Zone, causing the Glass Colossus to let out a painful howl.
As the light dissipated, what entered the audience’s view was a Flood Dragon so large it obscured the sky, six Zodiac Mechs with smoke billowing from their bodies, on the verge of becoming scrap, and the most pitiful of all, a one-armed giant.
That’s right, in order to save the life of the contestant’s Contract Pet, the Glass Colossus had paid the price of one hand being completely annihilated – a notion utterly preposterous.
As a member of David Jones’s squad, Margaret Yule’s cheeks were flushed with excitement as she waved her arms with abandon, completely devoid of the refined elegance befitting a lady.
A Class VI King severely wounding a Class VII Overlord – such a thrilling spectacle was enough to add several more strokes to the history of David Jones and the Frost Wyvern.
“Today’s really wild, I actually saw a Class VI King Flood Dragon nearly take down a Class VII Overlord Glass Colossus with one blow, I’ve got to go back to sleep after this.”
“Holy shit, if this wasn’t the live broadcast of the National Trainer Cooperative Competition, I’d swear I was hallucinating just like the guy above!”
“A bunch of fuss-pots, it’s no surprise when something like this happens to David Jones, don’t you know what being the Rosewood Leader means!”
“Haha, look at Elsa Hoyle’s distressed expression, it’s hilarious!”
“It was supposed to be just a regular referee job, but then the main Pet suffers huge damage, who could withstand that!”
…
Blake Easton turned his head toward Tracy Harvey, his intuition telling him that she must know something.
Tracy Harvey smiled slightly, “I’ve given David Jones some of the material Dr. Daz Lee researched on the Destruction Tyrant Dragon. If I’m not mistaken, this should be the Ice-Fire Zone documented in those materials.”
“Rainbow being able to coordinate all the Type Arcane Forces within its body to complete the nascent form of the Ice-Fire Zone indicates its Psychic Power is comparable to a Class VII Psychic Overlord. With such depth, it’s quite normal for it to severely wound a lower-level Class VII Glass Colossus.”
Upon hearing this, even Blake Easton, well-versed as he was, was momentarily taken aback.
Good lord, you call this ‘normal’?
After a moment of silence, Blake Easton said, “If there are no surprises, after this competition he will become the new leading figure for Rosewood College. Although the evolutionary roadmap of the Destruction Tyrant Dragon is powerful, it has many drawbacks; it’s best if you don’t interfere too much.”
Tracy Harvey did not express any opinion but instead looked with interest at Elsa Hoyle, who had lost control over her expressions.
…
“Didn’t I tell you to tone it down a bit? Is this your idea of toning it down?”
Sensing the peculiar glances from Elsa Hoyle and the Glass Colossus, David Jones couldn’t help but communicate with Rainbow through thoughts.
“Yip!” (I could have pulled my punches, but I thought this big guy looked strong and like he could take a hit, so I just added a bit more force. I didn’t expect it to be all flash and no substance!)
Rainbow refused to take the blame for this.
“All of Peony College’s Pets have lost their ability to fight! The winner of this National Trainer Cooperative Competition belongs to Rosewood College!”
Catching a glimpse of Martini Goldsmith standing stock-still, staring blankly at the Zodiac Mechs, Elsa Hoyle raised the Rosewood College flag.
The audience, as if waking from a dream, immediately burst into enthusiastic cheers, fully venting the tumultuous emotions in their hearts.
“I was right in my choice, it’s just a pity I got involved too late and our relationship isn’t close enough,”
Jackson Grant and his teammates looked toward David Jones, who was now the center of attention at the Wood Arena, their eyes betraying a hint of regret and envy.
Without the need for an official selection, the champion FMVP of this year’s Trainer Cooperation Competition could be none other than David Jones.
If all went as expected, the national competitions over the next four years would still be dominated by this man, who inspired both envy and awe in him.
Margaret Yule and Sanne exchanged glances, their eyes sparkling with intense yearning.
No matter how difficult, one day they would catch up to Captain David Jones, instead of being mere cheerleaders like today.
“Aren’t you coming over?” David Jones waved to his teammates.
Following tradition, the whole team needed to lift the trophy for a photo after winning the championship.
“One!”
“Two!”
“Three!”
In the thunderous applause, David Jones and his teammates together lifted the heavy trophy that symbolized honor.
Meanwhile, the live commentator spoke with fervent enthusiasm, “The dynasty of nine consecutive championships by Peony Colledge has finally been replaced by the miracle created by the new generation!”
“From an unknown high school senior in Waterland City to the renowned number one talent of the nation, athlete David Jones has shown us with the hard reality that talent and effort are our greatest assets!”
“He is second to none in the new generation!”
On the other side, staring at the splendid fireworks in the sky, Martini Goldsmith’s mind went blank, his silhouette forlorn.
He had never thought he would lose, but he had lost despite that.
This was also the first time Martini Goldsmith had ever tasted defeat in his life.
“Everyone thinks that it’s natural for a mechanical researcher to lose to a Trainer, but I just can’t accept it. Who says mechanical researchers are bound to lose to Trainers!”
As Martini Goldsmith hung his head in a daze, a fair hand suddenly came into view.
“Your Mecha is really strong and cool!” David Jones praised sincerely.
Martini Goldsmith forced a smile and shook the hand, “But the work I am proud of still lost to you!”
“Failure is always a part of life; it’s fine if you can win back next time, but I won’t be giving you that chance,” David Jones waved his hand.
To be honest, Zodiac Mechs are one thing, but he truly coveted that cool Five Elements Mech.
If the Gluttonous Beast could devour and inherit the Five Elements’ inter-generative and inter-restrictive powers of the Five Elements Mech, he believed not even the Ultimate Emperor Species Beast could break through the Gluttonous Beast’s defense, a thought that was quite thrilling.
Upon hearing this, Martini Goldsmith couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Have you ever failed?”
In his mind, David Jones seemed to have won every competition he entered; perhaps there was an omission in the information collected by Peony Colledge.
“Of course,” David Jones looked at him with a strange expression, “How could there be anyone in this world who has never experienced failure!”
Martini Goldsmith was at a loss for words.
After a brief exchange, David Jones got Martini Goldsmith’s contact details, and then the award ceremony officially began.
The award presenter for this edition of the Trainer Cooperation Competition happened to be the president of the Rosewood Trainer Guild and the vice-chancellor of Rosewood College, Virgil Harvey.
“Congratulations on your championship.”
Having said that, Virgil Harvey professionally took out seven tickets from the tray held by the ceremony host and handed them to David Jones, Margaret Yule, and the others.
The champion’s prize for this edition of the National Trainer Cooperative Competition had been announced early on, which was a ticket granting access to the Federation of Trainer Guild’s Beast Garden.
The so-called Beast Garden is a rare Pet conservation and breeding base established by the Trainer Guild Federation, gathering every rare Pet discovered within the Flowery Kingdom.
The species of Beasts dwelling within the garden are diverse, and even the lower-level Pets are at least of the Commander level, with the King Species Beast being not uncommon.
There are even rumors that young beasts of the Emperor level exist deep within the Beast Garden!
