Chapter 444 - 444 I Haven’t Heard of It
Thus, while the math teacher continued to observe the treatment, Luo Ziling was asked by several authorities in cardiology to explain the situation.
Luo Ziling did not hold back and explained to the medical authorities the rescue process he had just performed.
“The medicine is homemade by my grandfather, and I’m not clear on the specific formula,” Luo Ziling said, not wanting to share the secret formula of his family’s medicine with others. After administering the medicine to the math teacher, he continued, “After I fed our teacher the homemade medicine, I used acupuncture to stimulate his Danzhong, Huagai, Neiguan, Xinshu, and Qihai acupoints, and soon the teacher woke up.”
After hearing Luo Ziling’s account, the cardiology experts couldn’t help but look at each other in astonishment, not expecting such good results from Luo Ziling’s seemingly simple method.
“Are you a medical school student? From the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine?” an older doctor with slightly white hair asked Luo Ziling with a smile, “By the looks of it, you’ve learned quite well.”
“No,” Luo Ziling shook his head, “I’m a freshman in clinical medicine, and I’ve been at school for less than two months. I didn’t learn this knowledge at school, but from my grandfather. He’s been a healer all his life and has some renown.”
Luo Ziling’s words left the doctors even more astonished, and the older doctor who had been speaking to Luo Ziling asked with a smile, “Your ancestors were healers, presumably in traditional Chinese medicine, so why did you come to study Western medicine? Do you think traditional Chinese medicine has no future?”
“No,” Luo Ziling shook his head, “to integrate Traditional Chinese and Western medicine could perhaps bring great success. These are the teachings of my grandfather.”
“Then, could you tell me your grandfather’s name?” asked one doctor, obviously intrigued that a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine would have such thoughts, encouraging his grandson to study Western medicine and integrate it with traditional practices. He inquired with curiosity, “I think your grandfather must be a skilled and highly ethical healer. You dared to extend help without consideration of potential adverse consequences, which is highly commendable. Every second earlier that a disease like this is treated, the patient has a better chance of survival.”
Just from the fact that Luo Ziling was able to revive a critically ill myocardial infarction patient with a homemade pill and simple acupuncture, it was evident that his grandfather’s medical skills must be excellent.
As for their medical ethics, these were perceived by the doctors through the way Luo Ziling spoke and behaved while talking to them.
“My grandfather doesn’t live in Yanjing, but in the Northwest, and you definitely wouldn’t know his name,” Luo Ziling shook his head, unwilling to tell them his grandfather’s name, “A true healer acts with sincerity. Any healer, when confronted with a patient in need of treatment, will not hesitate to offer help, let alone when the patient is our teacher. So, there’s not much else to say. We still have classes today, so we will be heading back to school now.”
Seeing that Luo Ziling was ready to leave, Cao Jianhui, who stood by wanting to say a few good words on his behalf, was puzzled, and so were the other doctors.
However, the older doctor seemed to understand Luo Ziling’s intentions and did not press further.
“Then alright, you can go back first, and we’ll keep your teacher here for observation. Don’t worry, your teacher will definitely be fine.” The elder doctor reached out his hand to Luo Ziling, “I’m Li Mingxun, the director of the cardiology department at Yan University Affiliated Hospital. May I have your name? If there’s a chance in the future, we can exchange thoughts.”
“My name is Luo Ziling, a first-year clinical medicine student at the hospital.” Finding this elderly doctor to be amiable, Luo Ziling also took a liking to him, shook hands, and shared his own situation, “We’ll be going back to class now, the teacher’s family will be arriving soon.”
As they were leaving the emergency room, Cao Jianhui asked Luo Ziling in a low voice, “Boss, do you have any idea how renowned the director of cardiology we just met is?”
“I don’t know, I’ve never heard of him,” Luo Ziling answered honestly, “In fact, I don’t know much about the celebrities in the medical industry. The ones I do know are just some old friends of my grandfather.”
Cao Jianhui stopped, pointed to the wall in the outpatient hall that featured expert profiles, and said, “Why not, go have a look.”
Out of curiosity, Luo Ziling followed the direction of Cao Jianhui’s gesture and saw that the wall in the outpatient hall had many profiles of experts. He walked over and took a serious look, and indeed there was an introduction of Li Mingxun.
“Director of Cardiology at Yan University Affiliated Hospital, chief physician, doctoral advisor, professor, recipient of government special allowance,” Luo Ziling read some text introducing Li Mingxun, then turned to Cao Jianhui with a smile, “I really didn’t expect it, he’s such a renowned doctor.”
“I’ve heard about Professor Li Mingxun before; it seems my dad sought treatment from him once, really an excellent doctor, with both medical ethics and skills worthy of praise.” Looking at the information on the wall, Cao Jianhui said to Luo Ziling, “I didn’t expect to meet him today, and even less so that he would regard you in such a new light.”
“It’s not that he regards me in such a new light, but that he is interested in my medicine and treatment methods,” Luo Ziling corrected Cao Jianhui with a smile, “He’s interested in a treatment method he hadn’t understood before and wants to know what medicine I gave Mr. Wang. Mr. Wang’s symptoms eased so quickly, better than their regular treatment methods, he must be intrigued. Perhaps, he might seek me out again.”
“You should get to know Professor Li well. If you gain his approval, it will be easy to stay at the affiliated hospital,” Cao Jianhui laughed slyly and said to Luo Ziling, “All of us studying clinical medicine hope to stay at a big hospital after graduation. But the chances are slim, especially for those of us with a bachelor’s degree, now they all want graduates with a master’s. However, if you perform exceptionally well and get approval from a department head or expert, he might just take you on. That way, you won’t have to worry about job hunting after graduation.”
“Is that so,” Luo Ziling responded to Cao Jianhui’s words, which were tempting for most people, yet he felt indifferent, and merely smiled, “Then I’ll look for an opportunity to chat with Professor Li later. Getting to know a renowned doctor and having the chance to exchange medical knowledge is indeed very good.”
Realizing that Luo Ziling wasn’t very interested in these things, Cao Jianhui felt even more that his identity was not simple, so he didn’t bring up the subject of working after graduation again, laughed, and said, “Maybe he will end up teaching our classes. Those famous experts from the affiliated hospital often come to teach at the school.”
“Let’s head back,” Luo Ziling checked the time, “If we go back now, we can still make the last class.”
“The last class is English, and ever since the pretty teacher left, I’ve lost interest in English classes. How about we skip class for a change? No one will care much anyway.” Cao Jianhui said with a sleazy smile, “Let’s find somewhere to have lunch and then go back to the dorm. It won’t make much of a difference if we don’t attend the afternoon class.”
While talking, he pulled out his cellphone.
After checking his phone, Cao Jianhui couldn’t help but exclaim, “Someone posted the video of you saving someone just now. Boss, you’re going to be famous again. This time it’s going to be different, you saved a teacher’s life, it’s sure to shake up the school leaders, you’ll definitely get rewarded.”
Upon hearing what Cao Jianhui said, Luo Ziling also became interested, not expecting that someone had filmed him saving a life.
