God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 412: Broken World.

Despite wanting to rest, he knew he couldn't afford to do that right now as certain things required his immediate attention.

For one, there was the issue with the Beastwomen...

"Steve..." Cain called out in a dreary voice.

David undid his barrier with a heavy sigh and stepped aside for Steve who walked towards Cain with a wide smile.

"You called for me, boss?"

Cain moved in closer and whispered, "How do you suggest we go about this..."

Steve hemmed for a few seconds before sighing,

"Although I absolutely do not want to keep them alive, I do think it is for the best."

Cain raised a brow, "You think so?"

Steve let out a chuckle, "Of course. None of them are useless at all."

A sharp glint moved through his eyes,

"Worst comes to worse, we can always use them for... other purposes."

Seeing Cain glare at him, Steve licked his lips and raised his hands defensively,

"That was a joke, relax..."

Cain frowned, "Stop messing around. What do we do now?"

"Well..."

Although Cain was very knowledgeable about magic, that didn't mean he knew it all. Rather, his area of specialization was more of modifying and creating spells with magic circles, runes, and sigils.

Steve, on the other hand, was knowledgeable in many aspects...

This includes, of course, Enchantments...

Steve began to explain, "An enchantment is simply magic that affects spirits, and or souls. It is truly a fascinating branch of magic. Manipulating spirits and binding them to inanimate objects, or controlling those that are attached to living beings through various means of sorcery... Very interesting."

Cain waved his hands, "Could you... get to the point any time soon?"

Steven clicked his tongue, "I was getting there, alright? Ehem..."

His face turned serious as he glanced at Leah, Lin Lin, Kai, and Roselle who had moved closer to one another the moment the {Abyssal Millionth Beast} had fallen while gazing at the others with extremely suspicious eyes.

Everyone was at a standstill, both sides refusing to take another step forward...

Steve sighed "Either way... Thankfully for us, this enchantment was not created by that terrifying being. Instead, I think it was created with a magic tool or item of some sort."

Cain's eyes narrowed, "And you are saying this enchanted item or something is with her?" He said, pointing an accusatory finger at Leah.

Steve nodded.

"Can you tell me more?" Cain asked.

"That's all I know. It has an incredibly wide range, most likely covering the entire Central Island. If I can get a hold of it, I can figure out a way to break it. I think..."

Cain was amazed, "How do you know so much..."

Steve grinned, "I'm studious... Plus, enchantments are very fascinating. You should look into them."

Cain let out a light chuckle, "I'll see what I can do. Now then..."

Now that he had heard all that he needed to can, turned his attention back to the Beastwomen standing close to the carcass of the {Abyssal Millionth Beast}.

Because they had kept it grounded, they managed to limit not only the attack range of the {Abyssal Millionth Beast} but also its movement. This meant that Hunter, Floki, and Galip were able to lead the remaining Beastmen to clear out the {Abyssal Realm Walkers} that had crawled out of the Rift without having to worry about anything.

Susan and Evangeline were also safe, so there was that. However, the entire place was a mess. It was incredibly damaged by the battle that had just occurred.

Looking around, Cain couldn't help but let out a tired sigh again...

Then he turned to look at them. Although his gaze was cold, his eyes weren't threatening. Leah took this as her cue to step forward.

"How did you do it?" She said, glaring at Cain intensely.

Cain shrugged, "Can't you be a bit more specific?"

She gritted her teeth as her glare intensified,

"I mean how did you rescue these animals?"

"That? I just jumped through that thing, swung my sword a bit, beat up a bunch of crazy things, and then jumped right back out with a few hundred beastmen following behind. It wasn't anything crazy, to be honest." Cain said with all sincerity whilst pointing at the Rift.

Leah's face became cold as she took a step forward,

"I'm not in the mood for games."

Cain also took a step forward, "You think I'm playing here?"

A brief silence passed between the two...

The air was filled with palpable tension, and the air entering the lungs of everyone became cold. The Beastmen that had survived the battle gathered around, staring at the four girls with various expressions.

When the silence became too much to bear, Cain finally let out a sigh,

"All that doesn't matter now, does it?"

"I guess it doesn't. So what do you want?"

Cain smiled, "I want whatever that bastard gave you."

Leah's eyes narrowed down to slits,

"I don't know what you are talking about."

Cain had expected that answer.

"I know for a fact, you were given something by that so-called Angel. I want it."

Leah's eyes crackled with a spark, "And what if I refuse to give it to you?"

Cain shrugged, "I guess that can't be helped. In that case, you will be free to go."

Leah's eyes widened for a second. She thought she misheard what he said.

"What do you..."

Cain scratched the back of his head,

"What do I look like to you? I won't kill you or anything. Just leave the island if you refuse to cooperate."

Leah gritted her teeth, "But we were here first."

Cain grinned darkly, "So? If you want a fight, I would gladly give it to you."

Her face flushed red as she stared at Cain with boiling anger. Just when she thought she couldn't take it anymore, somebody stepped in between them.

Staring at Cain with a glare that could cut through steel, Roselle spoke up coldly,

"If it's a fight you want, then I will happily oblige." She pulled her swords out and pointed them at Cain.

Then she turned her sharp eyes to the Beastmen who flinched under her sharp gaze,

"Besides, I would never want to live in the same filth as these bastards."

Cain's eyes narrowed, 'Could I be missing something?'

He had long since noticed that something was off about this entire situation. However, he just couldn't place his finger on it.

'While the enchantment does exist, that doesn't explain the amount of anger and resentment in their eyes.'

Although he could be clueless sometimes, Cain wasn't stupid. There were always two sides to every story, but he had only heard the Beastmen's side of it.

Cain had noticed several things...

For him to understand what was going on, he had to get them sorted out first.

"You... What exactly happened here?" Cain said.

Roselle sneered, "So you don't even know the full story? Then you are just as terrible as the rest of them."

'I knew it. Something must have happened between the Beastmen and Beastwomen before we arrived here.'

He frowned, 'Some kind of disagreement? A dispute that ended terribly?'

However, the next words that came out of Roselle's mouth made him freeze,

"All of you are indeed scum. Supporting those who commit disgusting acts." As she was clearly incensed, the bitter words rolled off her tongue like water.

"Disgusting acts? Like what?" Cain asked even though he already knew.

A grim look settled on her face, "Do I need to spell it out for you?"

Cain fell silent...

In the end, he let out a sigh,

"I see... It seems I've had the wrong impression all this time."

Ignoring the glaring girls, Cain turned to look at the ground of Beastmen gathered around.

"Floki..."

A beastman who was larger than the rest and was covered in a coat of white fur stepped out of the crowd and stared at Cain with a complicated expression.

Cain's expression was incredibly frigid,

"Care to explain?"

The huge beastman let out a sigh...

The moment after the apocalypse occurred, tragedy struck the central island. The Devils had arrived and began killing indiscriminately.

Two groups were formed to gather survivors and battle against the terrifying creatures that had infiltrated their world.

At the time, one of these groups had been headed by Leah, and the other one, by Malcolm.

Both sides were unable to make contact due to the constant threat of the Devils and the presence of the Broodmother who had planned to take over the Central Island. However, that changed rather quickly when the Rift opened.

Stepping out of the Rift was an angel that had come to save them. In the span of days, they managed to deal with the Devils. They even managed to destroy the Broodmother.

During these times, Leah and Malcolm's groups were finally able to contact one another in hopes of cooperation.

However, in a land where laws no longer existed, vile creatures that had hidden themselves away in society would begin to rear their ugly heads.

For the first time in their lives, these girls were able to experience firsthand, the true evils of a broken world.
