God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 299: Drowning Goblins (4).

A large body of water that stretched from the floor of the cavern to its walls, and all the way to the roof. Staring down the wave, Cain almost couldn\'t believe his eyes. A tsunami wouldn\'t even be enough to explain what it was. Cain could feel the rumbling sounds and took that as his cue to flee as fast as possible.

With a single spell, he dashed through a spatial tear just in time to avoid the tsunami of water from tearing him to shreds.

Cain rolled for a while before stumbling to his feet. The entire place shook violently, and stalagmites fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.

"This is..." Cain was filled with a deep sense of fear. The magnitude of this spell wasn\'t something he had ever pulled before.

\'She is incredible...\' Cain said to himself.

He had teleported back to the corridor they used to watch the Chaos creatures and watched as the wave washed over the army.

He could see Evangeline floating over the panicked army, her eyes emitting a heavy blue light. Her hair had also taken on a more blueish tint as well. She almost seemed like a goddess, sending a flood to punish the mortals that displeased her.

If she were a goddess, then the Chaos Chief would be the mortal hero who went against the gods and their divine decrees...

Cain thought he had figured the creature out. However, it turned out he was very far from the truth. In fact, the creature managed to surprise him in more ways than one.

Cain watched as the creature let out a roar filled with indescribable rage. The roar was so powerful, that Cain wondered how it could come out from such a creature.

Facing the mysterious tsunami with no fear, even as its army was being swept away, the creature took a stance.

It pushed the horrified female {Chaos Goblin} off him, picked its heavy great axe from its throne, and stood up. Its chiseled body was glistening with sweat, showing just how toned its muscles were.

As soon as it picked it up, Cain\'s heart skipped a beat when he felt the amount of aether that was poured into the weapon.

"Shit!" Cain immediately knew he had bitten off more than he could chew.

A very complicated runic pattern instantly lit up on its chest. This was not the same type of rune that was used in magic circles. It was a physique-type rune. Cain immediately the power within the axe multiplied as a layer of flames suddenly burst onto the surface of the weapon.

Cain was at a loss for words...

These flames were not regular flames. Rather, they were a physical manifestation of the creature\'s mana.

The creature took a step forward and swung its weapon. A wave of solidified Ki and aether slammed into the tsunami and managed to break its speed for a spilled second.

Cain felt his breath get stuck in his throat when he saw this. Then, the Chief swung again, and again, and again. Although the tsunami of water didn\'t stop, it was slowed down.

\'At this rate, this thing will ruin our plans.\'

If the water was slow, then the rest of the Chaos creatures would be able to hold on until all the water washed away. Then, all their preparations would be useless...

Never in his imagination had Cain thought this creature would have been able to stand against a skill that was just as powerful as a natural phenomenon.

He had to get rid of it. Even if he couldn\'t, he had to stop it from completely destroying their plans...

And so, even though he had not recovered at all, he let out a sigh and picked his swords again. Only this time, they let off dull radiance from their gray runes.

Cain took one glance at what was happening, then jumped down. If there was one advantage Cain had over every single Chaos creature in the cave, it would be that he couldn\'t drown.

This was thanks to the skill, {Frozen Paths}...

Cain landed on his feet. A layer of ice quickly began to form beneath his feet as he rode the waves that came crashing down at the Chaos creatures.

The spell had already taken half of the Chaos army. Cain could see numerous {Chaos Goblins} being tossed around within the turbulent waters. However, the Chaos Chief managed to hold such a terrifying behemoth back.

It was his job to change that...

The {Hand of Stingè} had changed its form. The blade in his left hand had melted into the second one to form a wickedly sharp and long blade.

Cain positioned the blade diagonally and prepared himself. His eyes were set on the Chaos Chief. The creature felt Cain\'s gaze and looked up.

Their eyes met...

"Abyssal Dragon Blade: Hell\'s Nexus."

Cain whispered the words as he swung his blade. All the Ki and Devil essence in his body came rushing out. They flowed through his new veins, where they were compressed and refined. Cain\'s eyes went wide as he noticed the power within him swelling, waiting for release...

Cain\'s blade drew a line that seemed capable of supporting reality itself. The face of the Cgaos Chief fell drastically when he saw all this.

Without wasting a breath, he put his hand up and poured as much aether into his axe. Cracks began forming on the surface of the axe, but he kept pouring.

The creature let out a loud roar as it swung, This time, not at the approaching wave, but at Cain.

The two waves of destruction moved fast in the air and collided. Regardless of how powerful the Chaos Chief was, or how potent his energy, there was no way he could beat a technique as refined at {Hell\'s Nexus}.

Cain\'s diagonal cut sliced straight through the axe wave. It then continued toward the Chaos Chief even though most of its energy had been expended. Cain couldn\'t see what happened next, as the tall wave of water quickly began regaining speed, washing the rest of the goblin army away.

Cain struggled to stay on his feet as his body was totally drained of energy. Although it was better than the last time, {Hell\'s Nexus} bottomed out his Ki pool.

\'That was stupid...\' Cain thought to himself as he finally lost his footing. Closing his eyes, he prepared himself to plunge into the roaring waves.

Two soft hands held him right just as his body was about to give in...

"You okay?" Cain heard someone whisper into his ears.

A wave of comforting energy seeped into his body, rejuvenating him greatly. To his surprise, Cain could feel his Ki increasing.

Opening his eyes, he stared right back into the ruby-red eye that stared into his.

\'So close...\'

"Idiot! Why would you go ahead and use something like that."

Cain shrugged, "What was I supposed to do? I suspect that guy would have just swatted away any other skill or spell." Cain said with a dark look on his face.

Evangeline nodded, "Looks like we will have to change our plans slightly. You\'ll be the one dealing with the other ones. I\'ll hold out against the big guy until you are done."

Cain frowned, but Evangeline continued, "My Ki plundering technique gives me versatility and a decent amount of power, but yours seems to be geared toward maximum damage efficiency. I\'ll last longer against him. You will deal the finishing blow."

Cain let out a sigh...

In his mind, he knew she was being truthful. However, he still had to protest.

"But I do not have your Shadow Manipulation. Things are going to be ten times more difficult."

Evageline grinned at him, "What? Are you scared of a little difficulty? When did you become a chicken?"

Cain groaned and rolled his eyes, "Fine. Just make sure you stay safe..."

He knew just how dangerous the Chaos Chief was. Their only chance of beating it was by working together. If they fought it individually, they would only be able to survive for a limited time.

Having said all that, Cain watched the rest of the Chaos army get swept out of the main cavern and into the smaller corridors.

However, just at the center of the now empty and wet cavern the Chaos chief, as well as a handful of Two-headed and Three-headed (Chaos Trolls} stood. There was even a single Four-headed {Chaos Troll} still standing beside the Chief. For some reason, the other one was nowhere to be seen.

\'Here goes nothing...\'

Cain nodded at Evangeline, who gave him a small smile. Without even wasting a breath, the two of them dashed at whatever remained of the Chaos army...

The remaining Chaos Trolls dashed at them, unbridled fury in their voice. Cain sucked in a sharp breath when he noticed the Chaos Chief was missing an entire arm.

A grin formed on Cain\'s face as he continued to dash forward. Just before the two sides clashed, the shadows beneath Cain\'s feet became alive and he fell through them.

Traveling through the shadow realm for a short while left Cain a bit disoriented. However, as soon as he appeared on the other side, just before the entrance to the cave corridors, he regained his senses and dashed forward.

In a split second, he went through. However, he was not done. To prevent anyone from chasing him, as well as to prevent any of the Chaos creatures that were within the corridors from escaping, he gave a mental command.

Instantly, a series of explosions rocked through the mountain walls. Cain felt a shock wave slam into his back, driving him to the floor.

A second after the explosion, huge rocks fell at the entrance to the cave behind him, closing it up.

\'It\'s done...\'

Cain let out a sigh of relief...

His eyes let out a cold, sharp light as he got up to his feet. It was time to go hunting...
