The Young Matriarch

Chapter 75 - 075: You will face imprisonment soon

Xu Xingchen, living in this house, must have been influenced by it, no wonder he’s so popular with the girls at school.

Pretty good?

Some expertise?

Coming from Bai Chuwei, these words always seemed to carry a hint of disdain.

The smile vanished completely from Xu Li’s face as she stared at Bai Chuwei, dumbfounded.

Right on the money!

Not a penny more, not a penny less, it cost her 1.01 million!

Xu Li licked her red lips and clenched her fists, trying to force a smile, “Bai classmate, you seem to have some knowledge of these things?”

Bai Chuwei curled the corner of her lips, revealing a smile full of profound meaning, “A little bit.”

With just four simple words, she dominated the entire conversation, causing Xu Li’s heart to flutter and her palms to start sweating.

Usually only Duan Xingye came over to study, and now Bai Chuwei had appeared out of the blue, leaving her unsure of the purpose of her visit.

Suddenly, Xu Li bit her tongue and inwardly sneered; she was nearly forty, having wrapped Duan Xiuhao around her finger—surely she could handle a girl not yet twenty, with her yellow hair?

Xu Li put on a smile and teased, “I know, young girls like zodiac and tarot cards. Why don’t you do a reading for auntie as well?”

Xu Li truly had a way with words. As soon as she uttered them, the tension that Bai Chuwei had created thawed, and the atmosphere relaxed again.

Bai Chuwei smiled, revealing two rows of white teeth, her smile genuinely sweet, “Sure.”

Bai Chuwei rose to her feet, hands clasped behind her back, and strode from the living room to the balcony. She looked out at the scenery with a detached gaze as cold as the snow on a mountain peak.

Her figure might have been delicate, but she exuded a strong sense of mystery that was elusive.

Looking at Xu Xingchen, whose face was equally troubled, Xu Li asked Bai Chuwei jokingly, “Bai classmate, do you want auntie to get you some tarot cards or a compass?”

Bai Chuwei turned around with a rich smile, “I don’t use magic artifacts for fortune-telling.”

Xu Li blurted out, “How can you read fortunes without magic artifacts?”

Bai Chuwei calmly countered, “Do you need magic artifacts to see through something that’s so transparent?”

All three people present inhaled sharply. What a brazen statement!

Bai Chuwei, with her hands behind her back, walked in and looked down at Xu Li on the sofa, smiling, “Auntie, you may face the danger of imprisonment soon. I would advise you to think twice before you act.”

Xu Li’s face turned ashen, and her legs gave way, causing her to tumble down from the sofa.

Duan Xingye, who was closest, quickly helped Xu Li up, noticing the large beads of sweat and the extreme panic on her forehead.

Imprisonment!

After someone has been killed, isn’t that a reason to end up in prison?

Xu Li’s heart was engulfed in a tidal wave of terror, and cold sweat soaked through her clothes.

She looked at Bai Chuwei’s beautiful, smiling face and couldn’t help feeling that she had been seen through.

Xu Xingchen, noticing his mother’s distress, grew even more suspicious that she might be up to something. He quickly stood up and tried to defuse the situation, “Alright, let’s not put too much stock into these things, we should go to my room and study.”

Duan Xingye, still troubled by the “Bloody Disaster” Bai Chuwei had mentioned, felt less afraid with her there. He agreed to Xu Xingchen’s suggestion to study.

Duan Xingye went to invite Bai Chuwei to join them for study time.

The three of them walked upstairs, one after another. Suddenly, Duan Xingye saw something that turned his face deathly white, and he urgently asked, “What is this?”
