Chapter 187 Massacre!
" Good. It was not easy to sneak in this deep."
They had to take illegal channels to avoid alerting the Romanian authority. It helped that it was easier to sneak the customs fast with money.
Romanian organized crime was rampant as the country headed toward an economic boom, so it was no wonder that the Medici decided to settle here instead of in France, their ancestral home. It was not to say that they didn't have any influence in other regions; Europe was their main operating ground.
" Don't worry. Few hours ago I have already sent official warning to every sector. They will not obstruct our business here."
The capital of Romania, Bucharest, is divided into 6 administrative units called sectors. Each of them specializes in a different area of crime. David was apprehensive about doing them a favor; it would be good if they could clean all the 'trash,' but he didn't want to take unnecessary risks.
" We will take care of them if they foolishly provoke us. What is the update from Jane?" Arthur asked.
" She is waiting for us. If we took care of the important people here, their operation would crumble on it's own. She is planning to 'eliminate' other bases while taking advantage of that panic."
" Let her do that. We have to finish it before young master wakes up, begin the operation!" They had warmed up enough. Now it was time for the main event.
" The first priority target is in second floor, far left room. His son has also been spotted inside." one operator said. He was responsible for surveillance.
" Got it! Quietly made your way toward that room. Remember to keep it down before we reached our goal." David gave orders.
A hundred ghost soldiers from the Rothschild family, another hundred from Morgan's private security firm, fifty from the Hanson family, and twenty highly skilled operatives from the British Intelligence Agency. A total of 270 people besieged the enormous compound, which was as big as the Rothschild's estate.
It was early morning, so most people were either training or busy doing chores. They were utterly clueless about the danger creeping in closer and closer to them.
First, the snipers took care of the scouts at the gate; they were responsible for spotting targets and giving instructions to the ground team.
They focused on the barracks; first, that's where most people were spotted. It was also a high-priority area because the Armory was located beside it. It was mostly empty, but a few unlucky people were relaxing in their rooms, and they were quickly taken care of.
These people didn't even know what hit them before they lost the shine in their eyes. Upon clearing the barracks, they sealed the Armory and stationed a few people to keep guard.
Although they were using suppressors and moving stealthily, it was almost inevitable when they were discovered. Armory would be the first place to get flooded.
" Barricade yourself inside; we will come back, I promise. Just keep that dangerous stuff in the back." David asked the people to put the explosives somewhere the bullet would not reach easily. He didn't want to see the place blow up in smoke.
" Yes, sir."
" Uncle, We are done here. What about you?" David contacted Arthur through the radio.
" Give me few minutes, converge toward the training ground. Keep a few team beside the main house, it will get noisy very soon."
" Roger. But I can't believe I am beating the 'Trigon' right now."
" Brat! I will teach you a lesson when we return."
" Yeah, yeah. Teach me when you beat me old man."
They were bickering when they suddenly heard gunshots. Six consecutive shots.
" Report! Are we discovered?" David asked on other channels.
He got a negative response from everyone. It puzzles him. Were they practicing on the shooting range? But it was much louder than that; he asked for the 'spotter' report.
" Thermal vision showed it came from the main house. We could confirm it was from the target's room."
" What's going on here?" David thought. It didn't make any sense to dispense firearms in the residential area.
" Keep advancing. Stay alert!" He would find out sooner what was the cause of those gunshots.
It went much smoother than they anticipated. The enemies were careless because it was their home turf; they disposed of everyone without taking a single bullet in return.
Other teams also completed their 'tasks' and headed toward the main house. According to the intel, there should be a few workers and their target inside. With most of the hostiles down, there was little to no resistance when they infiltrated inside.
Soon, David and Arthur were in front of the chamber door. As intel suggested, Francesco must be inside. They had already searched the whole house and apprehended several attendants pointing to this door.
" Shall we?" David asked as he positioned himself at one side of the door.
" Remember they must be armed." Arthur reminded him.
" I know." The door flung open with a strong kick from David's heavy boot. They decided to avoid using explosives, it was deafening, and there was a slight delay before they could enter the room.
Arthur entered first and saw a young man holding a golden revolver; judging him as the most dangerous individual, he fired a single shot at the center of his dome.
Piero, the person holding the gun, could not even scream before his lifeless body fell on the floor. It was an anticlimactic end of his ambition, but that's what you got for messing with the wrong people.
Zero and his accomplice tried to run, seeing dozens of people, but they were also gunned down. They were left wondering if it could have ended differently if they had chosen better. Alas, they would never find that answer.
The only one who was hiding behind the desk was Antonio. He didn't know what to do; he feared he would also be gunned down like the others if he made any noise.
" Come out now! Antonio, I know you are hiding here!" David shouted. He knew that this Antonio guy was quite cunning and calculative; as expected, Antonio came out with his hands in the air.
" What happened here before we came in?" Arthur asked.
Antonio explained as best as he could while shuddering; he could guess the identity of these people. If only he had a little more time, he could have gone underground, but now he knew that his life was over.
" I understand. Because you were so cooperative, do you have any last wish?" Arthur asked. He knew Antonio couldn't be left alive because he was the brains behind everything.
" I- Please spare my family. They have nothing to do with this. Also, second young master is innocent I hope you will consider leaving him out of it too."
" Very well." the last shot was heard, and all that remained was the bloody course littered around the whole compound.
It would be a pain to clean everything up and make it functional again, but they had to do it to keep the guild operational, at least on the surface. While Arthur was planning their next move, one person entered the room hastily.
" Sir, we have a problem. We have to return to the UK right now!"
" Elliot, was it? What happened? Did something happen?" Arthur asked. Were their movement exposed? It was true they only planned some things, but they still pooled enormous resources for this mission.
" Yes sir. There has been a big Terrorist attack on the USA, the Twin Tower fell few moments ago. The Queen recalled all of us."
" What?"
