Chapter 5 First Contact-2

It was a relatively slow day when I heard the shout of Melissa, the nurse. I rushed to the entrance and saw a beautiful couple carrying a blue fabric sack. Few blood stains were covering various parts, which led me to conclude that It was a young patient. I quickly ordered the surrounding helpers to bring an Emergency stretcher trolley. He understood, and we gently placed the person on the stretcher and rushed them inside.

I told the couple to wait as they wanted to follow inside the ward.

"Lets just wait outside, I hope they can save the boy." Robert sighed.

Laura, on the other hand, was panicking. She pulled out the mobile phone and called her Uncle. She just explained the situation briefly and told him about the hospital. Her Uncle quickly contacted the hospital, informing them of the situation.

It was just over noon; I felt sour all over my neck. Last night I had to stay up late for my research. It was hectic for a couple of weeks; we were approaching the final phase of several experiments, and I had to supervise and work with the different professors. If It weren't for my administration job as the Dean of the Royal Berkshire NHS, it would have been a lot easier, but as the Head, I have a lot of responsibilities. I had to look through different documents constantly, and sitting long hours in the office made it difficult for my overall body.

The Royal Berkshire Hospital was opened in 1839 on the London Road on land donated by Henry Addington, 1st Viscount Sidmouth, a resident and former Prime Minister. The hospital was built by local architect and builder Henry Briant, who won the design competition. King William IV took a keen interest in the hospital before it was built; consequently, his arms appeared on the central pediment, although he died before the hospital opened. The first patron of the hospital was William's niece and successor, Queen Victoria.

It was a prestigious hospital and ranked in the top 10 best in the United Kingdom. I was browsing through the relevant documents when I received a call to my personal number, which only a few people can access. I glanced at the caller ID and found it was Master Joshua Morgan, one of the major shareholders of the trust. I hurriedly picked up the phone--

" Hello"

" Hello, mister Michael Wilkins, I have an urgent matter to discuss with you." Master Joshua said.

" Yes sir, Please tell me, how can I help!" I replied and straightened my back.

" There seemed to be a patient that my niece Laura brought, which is in critical condition; please provide the best care available and keep me updated. I have to trouble you for this." Master Joshua said.

" No trouble, sir, I will immediately look into it and personally guide the relevant doctors, you don't have to worry about it."

"Thank you, as far as I am informed Robert is also with her in the ER, you will find them there." He said.

I replied firmly, cut the call, and rushed to the ER with different experts to meet the legendary couple.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a team of 20 or so different Expert doctors and their pupils rushing to the ER. They were all following an old man whose face was filled with worry. Onlookers were wondering what was happening but still made a clear path when they saw them approaching their direction. It was an epic line-up of top-level executives in the field of medicine. Many people recognized different personnel as they have seen photos of them hanging in different wings and corridors of Royal Berkshire.

Robert and Laura were sitting quietly outside the ward. Robert was calm with a stoic face, but Laura seemed to worry; it seemed like a switch had flipped, triggering her motherly instinct. They were looking through the glass window when they heard a rustling sound coming from their left and instinctively moved their faces in the said direction.

Robert recognized the Dean as they had met previously in a fundraiser organized by the trust it was several years ago, but he had a pretty good memory. He said respectfully--

"Dr.Wilkins, I am glad you are here." he instinctively moved his hand for a handshake.

" Master Robert, you are embarrassing me. Just call me Old Micheal." he said with an erect posture.

He knew what kind of existence Robert was in an era of turmoil and heavy family disturbance; Robert single-handedly stood against the Old monsters of both Rothchild and Morgan Empire for Miss Laura. Their love story was very famous in the upper echelons of the rich, and even young people admire them for sticking together despite the pressure from both families.

You have to under that both of these families are pillars of several countries, one in Europe and the other in the United States. They always had friction because of different roots; they were overlords for different reasons, and because of these grievances,

It was very had to acknowledge their union. But Robert did that through sheer will and made them recognize their marriage. It was a turbulent time, but now they seem on good terms. It is not widely known how he did it, but the result speaks for itself. He was a monster created my an old moster.
