Chapter 93 New Child?
"Yeah, I\'ll even loan you some points," Finn chimed in, attempting to help but only earning contemptuous looks from everyone else.
"Loan? You really are diabolical," Evelina sighed, shaking her head.
"What? I don\'t see any of you trying to help," Finn said defensively, crossing his arms.
Matthew stepped in to diffuse the tension. "It\'s alright, we can take care of it," he reassured Finn, though his tone was more about keeping the peace than actually needing Finn\'s assistance.
As the situation settled, Freya\'s mind was still focused on the mystery at hand. She turned to Jett, her expression serious. "Tell us, Jett, how is she technically our child?"
Jett sighed, realizing he couldn\'t avoid explaining any longer. "I guess there\'s no point in hiding it," he mused. "First off, you have to understand that it wasn\'t my fault."
"What wasn\'t your fault?" Morrigan asked, leaning in with curiosity. The room grew quiet again, everyone eager to find out what had really happened.
"After the whole kidnapping incident, I crossed paths with those bastards a few years later in Lagia," Jett began.
"They tried to take you too?" Marcella interrupted, her eyes widening.
"No…" Jett tried to reply but was cut off again.
"On second thought, they really don\'t have a reason to. You may continue," Marcella conceded, waving her hand.
Jett sighed in frustration but continued. "They attacked the town as a diversion, but they were actually there to conduct some kind of ritual. They needed the blood they stole."
"That makes more sense. I did hear about something like that happening a while ago. So, what happened?" Rey muttered, his interest piqued.
"I fought with them. They nearly killed me, though, but I managed to spill the blood they were going to use for the ritual. Unfortunately, the contents landed on my gacha egg," Jett said, watching their expressions closely. \'These idiots really think I\'m lying. Well, I can\'t blame them. A kid taking on those guys alone and coming out alive doesn\'t sound believable.\'
"Yep, that doesn\'t make any sense," Elora said, her eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"My sister was there to rescue me," Jett clarified, hoping to clear up their doubts.
"Well, you should have said that earlier. I almost thought you were a chronic liar," Marcella sighed, giving Jett a playful chop on the head.
"You didn\'t let me finish. What\'s with all of you and interrupting someone mid-sentence?" Jett snapped, his frustration finally boiling over.
The group fell silent, realizing they had been too eager and curious, constantly interrupting him. Freya, still standing by Jett\'s side, placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. "We\'re all just trying to understand, Jett. It\'s a lot to take in."
Jett nodded, calming down a bit. "I get that, but you have to let me finish first."
A tense silence filled the room as everyone waited for Jett to explain.
"I think her DNA merged with mine during that incident," Jett began, his voice steady, "and that\'s why she looks like a human instead of a dragon. If that\'s the case, then there\'s a possibility she has both of our attributes."
His words left everyone speechless, their stunned expressions revealing a mix of disbelief and jealousy. The weight of his revelation hung in the air, making it clear that they were all envious of the unique bond he had forged.
Jett continued, "From what I\'ve seen, she acts more like a real child. Freya and I can barely control her. She doesn\'t listen to anyone else, but at least she gets along with everyone, so that\'s something. I can keep her hidden and bring her out whenever I want, like any pet, but she seems to have the ability to come out on her own. There\'s also a chance she can read both my and Freya\'s minds."
Evelina couldn\'t hold back a pout. "No fair, I want something like that."
"The idea of having both your attributes is especially tempting," Elora added, her voice tinged with envy. She did her best to hide her disappointment, but it was clear she felt a bit left out.
One by one, the others began voicing their jealousy, each in their own way but with no ill intentions. The room buzzed with their playful complaints, though underneath it all, a genuine sense of admiration for Jett\'s remarkable connection with his dragon-turned-child lingered.
"So, what are you going to do with her?" Seraphina asked, gently picking up the crying girl.
"We also need to think about the next trial," Rey pointed out, his gaze shifting to the now wailing child.
The sound of her cries quickly became a nuisance, echoing through the room and making it difficult for anyone to focus.
"We need a babysitter," Jett muttered, mostly thinking aloud.
"Who in their right minds would want to look after a little child that\'s not even a student of this academy?" Freya questioned, taking the child from Seraphina. She patted her on the back, and the crying gradually subsided.
"I know someone crazy enough," Jett smirked. \'He\'ll be the best option to look after her. And I trust him well enough not to do anything stupid.\'
A few seconds later, the girl finally drifted off to sleep, leaving the others impressed by Freya\'s ability to calm her.
"You look really good with this nursing mother stuff," Finn teased, only to receive a hard pillow to the face.
"You guys never took care of children in your past lives?" Freya asked, glancing around and seeing no positive response. "Well, I have some experience looking after my aunt\'s children in my past life, plus a few babysitting gigs."
"That\'s impressive, but we can\'t take her to class, at least not yet," Jett sighed.
"So what\'s your plan?" Asher asked.
Jett didn\'t respond right away; instead, he flashed them a nervous smile, leaving everyone in suspense.
*****
Jett walked into Clarence\'s office with Freya at his side. The moment Clarence saw them, his expression darkened with irritation.
"What did I tell you about bringing others to my office, boy? You better have a good reason for this," Clarence snapped.
"Good day, sir," Freya greeted with respectful politeness.
"C\'mon, this is super important. We have a problem, and you\'re the only one capable of helping us," Jett said, trying to lift Clarence\'s spirits while smirking inwardly. \'Just make the old man feel special; he\'s gullible to flattery.\'
Clarence\'s stern expression softened just a bit. "Is that so? Alright… I\'ll hear you out, oy."
Freya was taken aback, surprised by Jett\'s casual demeanor. Although he wasn\'t being disrespectful, it was clear that he wasn\'t following the usual etiquette one would expect in the presence of a teacher.
Freya tapped Jett on the shoulder and whispered, "Mind your manners in front of the principal."
\'Oh right, she doesn\'t know,\' Jett thought with a faint smile. "It\'s okay, don\'t get too scared of the old man," he said casually.
"Huh? That\'s the principal you\'re talking about, dimwit," Freya cautioned.
Without warning, she grabbed Jett\'s ear and pulled his head down into a proper bow.
"Ouch, ouch, alright, I get it, sheesh," Jett whined, struggling to free himself from her grip.
"Good," Freya said, finally letting go of his ear.

"At least one of you has proper manners," Clarence remarked, an inward smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. \'She seems to know how to handle the kid.\'
Though amused by the scene before him, Clarence didn\'t let it show. His tone shifted to a more serious one as he addressed Jett. "So, what brings you here? This better be important for your sake."
Jett straightened up, trying to regain his composure. "Alright, we came to find out if there\'s ever been a situation where a person came out of a gacha egg instead of a pet?" He paused, pondering a better way to phrase it. "Technically, a humanoid pet or something close to that."
Clarence looked a bit puzzled by the question. "If you\'re talking about a human hatching from those eggs, then that\'s impossible. But if it\'s a humanoid monster, then that\'s a different case."
"What if this so-called monster looks closer to human than any other monster?" Jett pressed further.
Clarence frowned, clearly not fully grasping what Jett was trying to convey. "Could you elaborate? Is it still considered a pet at that point? I suppose if the master still has control, then we can categorize it as one."
"Well, that\'s another issue…" Jett began to explain, but Freya cut him off.
"Have a heart and just go straight to the point. Hearing you call her a pet is a bit annoying," Freya sighed.
As Clarence was trying to piece together what was going on, the little girl suddenly appeared before him out of nowhere.
"Mommy, mommy," she called out, stretching her hands toward Freya.
"Would you look at that," Freya smiled, picking her up. "She responds to my call too."
