Chapter 414 Cornering Annabelle
"Tsk! You skank! Can\'t you see that this poser bastard is just a pretty face!?"
"So!? What the hell does that matter!? If I remember correctly, you tried courting me just because of my looks, so what\'s the difference!?"
"Hauhh!???"
While most of the students were cheering or whispering amongst themselves, a couple of them were butting heads. Eventually, mere head butts turned into something more, escalating very quickly. And just as it seemed like a fight was going to break out, the teacher clapped her hands and said, "That\'s enough from you all. Settle down and prepare yourselves for today\'s lesson. You all know that it is Magic History time, so flip over to page 420."
Upon hearing what subject they would be studying today, everyone lost all their previous hype and slumped into their seats. They mourned the next couple of hours, but after that, some of them thought about approaching the transfer student. After all, he was especially handsome, and even a little charismatic.
Sitting to the far end right of the room, Azmodeus sat with a bored look on his face as he stared out the window closest to him. Outside the window were countless floating ships and powerful Immortals flying to and fro.
The city itself looked like a technological paradise, or perhaps a magic empire. Buildings with seamless reflections stretched outward as far as the eye could see, with some even reaching up above the clouds. Birds and unknown winged creatures flew overhead, soaring through the endlessly massive city like it was a forest of metal. Situated at the very top of the Eternal Jade City, the Eternal Jade Academy overlooked everything, making it the perfect tourist location—if not for the fact that one had to be a student of this prestigious institution to access the picturesque views it had to offer.
Before he knew it, the classes had already ended, and during the entire four-hour period, a stunning violet-haired girl kept stealing occasional glances at him. Azmodeus, of course, noticed this, but he honestly didn\'t care. He didn\'t mean to sound like a narcissist, but women had been gawking and staring at him his entire life, just like those girls from… from…—
\'Who was I just thinking about?\' he asked himself in confusion. \'I have never kept any girls close to me… Is there something wrong with me today…?\'
Azmodeus was beginning to think that having devices about the resources that would allow him to quickly break through into the Immortal Emperor Realm was having negative karmic repercussions. But then again, maybe he was just going insane. \'Thinking that you have been around other women when you are clearly a raging loner is another kind of crazy,\' he sighed before getting up off his seat. Class had just let up, which meant it was time to move onto practical lessons.
Following closely behind him was the least secretive stalker alive. She appeared and vanished behind dozens of support beams that held the academy together, all while staying within a few meters of the suave, handsome, red-haired man.
\'For the princess of the Mountainrider Empire, she sure does act unusual,\' Azmodeus thought as he swiped away her system interface. \'Anabelle, huh? And she appears to have a special set of innately gifted eyes that make it so she can see the truth of anything in the Immortal Realm. Moreover, she is the secret disciple of the Elder disciple among the two disciples of the Eternal Jade Sect Palace. And this master… Oh?\'
Azmodeus\'s brows raised in interest. After reading through everything he could discern about this \'Ling Chao,\' he knew exactly what sort of storm was about to arrive in the Eternal Jade Heavens Immortal Realm. \'This changes everything,\' he thought with a cunning smirk. \'I was originally just going to gain a high status in the Academy and then get my resources and passport through conventional methods. After which, I would leave for the Dunes of the Lands Unknown.\'
\'However, with this girl, and more specifically, the status of her master, I will be able to gain so much more if I delay my journey into the Lands Unknown just a little bit longer. After all, the walls between two Immortal Realms are closing in, and the Evil Sovereign as well as his Evil Legion are on the verge of descending.\'
Azmodeus could hardly wait for countless powerful loot bags to transfer over and create chaos, giving him just the opportunity he needed to disregard all inhibitions and loot anything that got in his way. A new plan formulated inside his mind as he continued walking through the spacious corridors of the Academy, receiving the stares of anyone who crossed paths with him. More importantly, though, there was an innocent sheep that needed to be caught in his claws. Only that way could he truly leave the Eternal Jade Heavens Immortal Realm with all of the benefits.
After making a sharp turn around a rounded corner, Azmodeus vanished from Annabelle\'s sight, prompting her to quicken her pace and catch up to him. However, the moment she crossed the corner, two large hands reached out and cupped her mouth.
Without knowing what was going on, she was brought to a part of the academy where no one usually went. Upon feeling the hands let go of her, she conjured a magic sword using Immortal Energy and pointed it at the assailant\'s throat, only to find that no one was there. That was when she felt a light tap on her shoulder.
"We need to talk," said Azmodeus, his face still unknown to Annabelle. "Who are you!?" she asked, her voice frosty. "Do you know what could happen to you if I were to report you for this!? No matter who you—" she suddenly became quiet when she turned around and saw who the owner of the raspy voice was.
