Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Resurrection of the Undead King, Thousand Skeleton Army
"The Universal Descent game has taken over the world, it has been released around 5 days ago, yet all 20 million beta testers are already considered as celebrities, even more those that were at the top of the rankings!" the reporter spoke with a very enthusiastic voice.
"We cannot be truly sure what is happening inside, but I can promise you one thing, folks, I'm sure that this is incredible," the beautiful woman smiled, "Hopefully they increase the beta tester spots so that more people can try it out!"
The entire talk of the world was about 'Universal Descent', and of course, if they talked about the game, they talked about those at the top.
The ID 'FateBreaker' became the most spoken one of all, as that guy was seemingly dominating all the rankings.
[Universal Descent Forum]
[HorizonZero: I promise you, that guy is crazy, there's no footage, but I heard from a friend he was fighting a giant skeleton!]
[Miakeith: Bullshit!]
[Kori45: Nah, it's true, I say it, that guy has insane spells.]
[Ulisse: I hope the game launches more places soon... it's unfair!]
From kindergarteners to people at the top of the corporate ladder, everyone was talking about the game and wanted to know what was happening inside.
"Hmm~" Alex looked down, and he saw Alice resting against his chest.
He smiled, mischievously grabbing her chest too.
"H-Hey," but this only turned her on, "F-Fine, if you want to do it, let's go!"
They enjoyed yet another night of pleasure, one of them more than the other, though.
...
The next day came; and after yet another breakfast Alex prepared, a skill he had acquired from spending time alone in the apocalypse, he finally got ready.
Today was a big day: the [Undead King] was about to resurrect!
And directly after that, then the attack on Alice would happen.
The task he had been given: to save Alice from the three novice monsters that would appear, was an almost impossible one.
The only true way would be to send one of his abilities in the game to the real world, but as it had been only 6 days now, there was no chance this could happen.
Unless, he did something very precise.
And even if he did that thing, he wasn't even sure it would work.
He had to take his chance, though.
[Do you want to log into the game?]
"Yes," Alice was still sleeping, but he had already informed her beforehand that he would go inside the game early, so it didn't matter.
...
Fwish!
Alex appeared in Dawn City, inside the house Alice had been hiding in during the third day of the event.
"AAAAH!" he heard a scream behind him, and saw a woman NPC shout, "W-What are you doing in my house!"
"Oh, my bad," Alex just bowed before taking his leave, confusing the girl.
He left Dawn City by taking the entrance gate and then opened his [World Map].
There was a pinpoint between the [Undead Temple] and [Dawn City] marked with the text "Undead King Corpse".
Even better than that, the map had a timer above that text, which quite literally showed when the king would resurrect, the [World Map] was truly deserving of being an artifact item!
[38:51 minutes left before resurrection!]
The timer was ticking down, but Alex reached the corpse rather quickly.
It was still there, untouched, no one daring to try and see if they could get any items as it had been sitting there for almost a week in the game at this point.
Almost no one was around currently, except those that were heading inside or coming back from the [Undead Temple], but otherwise, Alex just waited.
Some people pointed at him, laughing as some guy was foolish enough to rest against the boss for no reason.
30 minutes passed like this.
[5 minutes remain!]
"..."
[3 minutes remain!]
"..."
[60 seconds.]
The boss's body began to shake, some of its destroyed body reforming, and its burned cloak getting repaired.
A dark mist began to surround the Undead King.
"What the..."
"WATCH OUT!"
"RUN!"
The nearby players immediately sensed and saw the presence, running out before it could awaken.
Meanwhile, Alex just got ready for action, pulling out his dagger and staff, then backing away from the body.
"..."
Ding!
[The Undead King has resurrected!]
"Foolish humans..." the king seemed to talk to himself, "Now that this fool is gone, I can take over this city..."
But right as the Undead King moved his body, his eyes fell on Alex, who was still standing there.
"Oh," the king let out, "Spawn killing?"
"No," Alex shook his head, "I have an offer for you, Undead King."
"Hm?"
...
[Undead King]
[Legendary Boss - Level 60]
[HP: 150,000]
The King while getting resurrected had gone through a level and rank upgrade: from level 50 to 60, thus his HP reaching 150,000; and also he had gone from being a [Superior] rank boss to a [Legendary] one, one rank above.
He had reached a 3-star evaluation, becoming a third-tier monster, way above Alex, who was only at the second.
"Do you think you have the guts to offer me something, foolish human?" the undead king laughed, "I am above you now, you cannot defeat me."
"Hm."
Suddenly, the undead king kneeled down, making his skeleton palm touch the ground.
"The power of the undead shall rise above all."
Ding!
[Talent, Undead Lord, Activated!]
Fwish!
A dark mist surrounded the area again, and then as the Undead King used his true power, the ground trembled.
"..." Alex was unfazed, he just looked down.
And then, out of nowhere, around a hundred skeletons appeared, emerging from the ground.
"Come on, human, you are nothing before the lord of the undead, bow down!"
[Undead Skeleton]
[Level 30]
[HP: 5000]
...
Each of the skeletons were level 30 or around that, but this didn't even scare Alex, not in the slightest.
"Come on, human, show me what you've got!"
"Ok."
Grand Fireball! Boulder Smash! Lightning Strike! Crimson Shard! Inferno Tempest!
-3325! -2400! -2624! -1750! -1524!
First of all, most of Alex's spell has become so big that they didn't only hit a single skeleton, not at all, for example, the [Grand Fireball] hit around a dozen of them!
And let's add [Inferno Tempest], which quite literally, thanks to its upgrade, hit every single monster, Undead King included.
Around 20 of the skeletons fell from that first spell combo.
[Do you want to extract?]
[Do you want to extract?]
[Do you want to...]
And five extraction panels appeared in front of him, he swiftly selected the spirit stat points on them though, gaining 60 spirit points.
"Fool, my army is still standing," The Undead King laughed, clearly unbothered, "ATTACK, MINIONS!"
All the skeletons, some carrying swords, other bows, the rest spears, dashed toward the human, dozens of arrows flying toward him.
-1!
-1!
-1!
But Alex didn't even bother activating his [Stone Wall] to protect himself, as the arrows didn't do anything to him.
Grand Fireball! Inferno Tempest!
This kept going for no less than two minutes before every single skeleton had died, [Inferno Tempest] being too overpowered against huge hordes of enemies.
"Is that all?" Alex raised his eyebrows.
"FOOL!" the Undead King sneered, his EGO hurt, "COME FORTH MINIONS!"
He repeated the same process, but this time he summoned over a thousand skeletons, this drained most of his mana, but he was confident it would be enough to kill the human once and for all.
Spoiler alert, it wasn't, Alex immediately killing every skeleton with his spells, and even those that got too close and dealt 1 or 2 damage points were then immediately killed by [Powerful Slash].
Ten minutes later, all the skeletons were down.
Alex had gained 2153 spirit points.
Yes, no kidding.
[Spirit: 2737 + 1000]
He was becoming more and more of a spell machine.
"Thanks for the stats," Alex nodded.
"FOOLISH! FOOLISH! FOOOOLISH!"
The Undead King, losing patience, immediately dashed toward Alex, wanting to end the human once and for all, fuck that skeleton army, they all sucked anyway, and he could defeat them too if he had wanted!
"So about that offer-"
"FUCK YOUR OFFER," The Undead King slammed his massive sword at the spot Alex had been in, but it was just met with a massive [Stone Wall] that protected the boy, "What the?"
Grand Fireball!
Fwish! BOOM!
-5537!
The damage was insane, but in comparison to the king's massive 150,000 health points, Alex still had work to do.
