Chapter 520 - Is This Worth It?
“You know who the people of the other party are, right?” asked the old man softly in a somber tone.
“Cold Moon Palace,” replied Jiang Wuhen without the least bit of delay or hesitation.
“Then, do you still wish to do this?” questioned the old man with his eyebrows raised.
“They are my companions,” replied Jiang Wuhen as bright colors flashed across eyes. That’s right, companions! Chuxi! Yichen! In the future, these two will continue to be his companions. Companions who had his back! In the future, he also had the company of companions to look forward to already!
“Is this really worth it though?” asked the old man solemnly once again just to be sure.
“Like I said, they are my companions,” repeated Jiang Wuhen, a little louder. A memory flashed across his mind of Ling Chuxi saying, “No matter what, we are companions and I do not wish to see you die before my eyes without doing anything,” with a calm expression on her face and a stubbornness in her eyes.
“Regardless of whether you admit to it or not, you are ultimately someone belonging to the Feng family. I am able to help you, because you are someone belonging to the Fneg family,” replied the old man, his words carrying a deeper meaning behind them.
“My family name is Jiang. My name is Jiang Wuhen,” insisted Jiang Wuhen somewhat stubbornly. Nevertheless, the bottom of his eyes dimmed. He was very clear about what this act of him opening his mouth to request a favor of the old man meant. However, for the sake of Chuxi and Yichen, what price was this to pay?
The old man smiled, turned around then disappeared from Jiang Wuhen’s sight.
Looking at the old man’s disappearing back, Jiang Wuhen found himself laughing. But there was a note of anguish in his laugh. Someone belonging to the Feng family? It was a pity. Aside from Grandfather Qing, how many others truly thought of him as someone from the Feng family? Since he was young, when he met with such cold gazes, mockery and sarcasm from them, which one of them had treated him as someone of the Feng family? Yet, after so much time had passed, they now wanted him to return all because of... Oh, forget it. Let’s not think about such troubling matters for now.
‘Chuxi, Yichen, the both of you must stay safe and unharmed!’ thought Jiang Wuhen as he raised his head to look on ahead at the dense forest, his eyes full of worry and anxiousness.
...
A cold wind blew as the mid-autumn chill spread across the vast wilderness.
Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen had their backs against each other with the swords in their hands trembling slightly. Ghost Shadow and the rest of the black-robed men encircled them, emitting a huge suppression against them with the might of cultivation in the Great Fulfilment Pinnacle stage and the realm of True Essence.
Ling Chuxi’s chest was heaving rigorously with exhausted breaths. She gave a small bitter chuckle. She had underestimated Cold Moon Palace’s abilities after all. Even though she and Ling Yichen had done their best, they were unable to escape from the other party’s pursuit of them and subsequent attack.
After exchanging quite a few blows, she still could forcefully withstand oncoming attacks with the Turning Cloud Gesture and Spiral Battle Qi, but Ling Yichen was already pale and was obviously quite badly injured.
“Lay down your swords and I let the both of you die happily,” instructed Ghost Hand proudly as he pointed his sword at Ling Chuxi.
Aside from the murderous intent in his eyes, there was also a hint of admiration. To think that this girl Ling Chuxi was merely at the cultivation level of Great Fulfilment Pinnacle stage, yet she was able to use such exquisite martial arts techniques to force him into taking a few steps back and spend all this time dealing with them until now. Even he was in admiration of Ling Chuxi’s innate talent. If she had been born in their sect, her successes would be unlimited.
If it were not for Qing Lingyan’s kill order, he even wanted to bring Ling Chuxi back to Cold Moon Palace. With her standard of cultivation, medical skills and innate talent, if she were to become a disciple of Cold Moon Palace, she would definitely shine brightly for them and even become one of the pillars of Cold Moon Palace, bringing them much glory.
It was a pity that the young master had already determined on a definite kill order for Ling Chuxi and it would be hard to change her mind, even for him.
Although right now, he did not know that just because of a momentarily lapse of judgement on Qing Lingyan’s part due to her angry desires, how great of a disaster this decision would bring upon Cold Moon Palace. Naturally, at the same time, they had also lost their best chance to revitalize the sect.
