Chapter 169: The Two Women Meet Again
Luo Ziling didn’t want to tell Yang Qingyin about the conflict he had with Lu Weiguang. There was no special reason; he just felt that it was the right thing to do, otherwise, it would be petty.
Just now he only wanted to remind Li Qingyang, and he didn’t intend to bring up the conflict with Lu Weiguang.
“It’s really nothing,” Luo Ziling replied with a touch of embarrassment when Yang Qingyin asked. He shook his head, “Let’s have some tea. I’ll treat you to dinner today, senior. Whatever you’d like to eat, just tell me.”
“I could have guessed even if you didn’t tell me,” Yang Qingyin said with a smile and pursed lips.
“Can we not talk about these things?” Luo Ziling felt a bit embarrassed and neither confirmed nor denied, “After all, it’s all in the past now.”
By saying so, Luo Ziling essentially confirmed her earlier guess, causing Yang Qingyin’s face to chill momentarily.
But then she quickly smiled at Luo Ziling, “Alright, let’s enjoy our tea and forget these displeasing matters.”
Following that, the two of them didn’t talk about matters relating to last night, nor did they touch on anything related to their backgrounds; instead, they talked about where to go during the long vacation.
“Senior, do you really want to go with me to the grasslands?” After chatting for a while, Luo Ziling asked in surprise, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll trick you and sell you off?”
“Would you have the heart to sell off such a pretty senior?” Yang Qingyin laughed, “If you have the heart, then I’ll just let you trick me!”
“Alright then,” Luo Ziling, feeling somewhat embarrassed, touched his nose, “If you trust me this much and I still harbored any bad intentions, I’d surely be struck by lightning!”
“In any case, you have to teach me how to ride a horse!” Yang Qingyin said supportingly with both hands on her chin and a beaming smile looking at Luo Ziling, “I want to gallop across the grasslands like I’ve seen in historical TV dramas!”
“Senior, those scenes on TV are just for show,” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but give a wry smile, “Horsemanship isn’t something you can learn and get good at quickly. It takes regular practice to become skilled, and it’s not like you can stay on the grasslands forever.”
“That’s your problem, not mine!” Yang Qingyin declared with a mischievous face.
Luo Ziling had grown accustomed to the playful and cute demeanor that Yang Qingyin showed in front of him.
But what he didn’t know was that no one else in this world had such an honor.
Even Yang Qingyin’s own parents and younger brother had never seen her with such animated expressions.
In front of her parents, she had always been decisive, never showing the petulance and coquettishness of a girl easily. She was a sensible child, very rational and mature. In front of her younger brother, Yang Qingye, she also played the role of a true elder sister. In fact, Yang Qingye was less afraid of their parents than he was of her.
As for others, it was even harder for them to see Yang Qingyin smiling. She usually maintained a demeanor that was composed and nonchalant in all circumstances, as if immune to emotional fluctuations, somewhat similar to Ouyang Feifei.
For many years, nobody had seen Yang Qingyin smile so gently and alluringly, or act so playfully and adorably.
Luo Ziling was the first. Unfortunately, he didn’t realize this. He simply felt that Yang Qingyin was showing her true self in front of him – naturally cute and adorable, like a goddess.
With Yang Qingyin, no matter what they did, even just sitting and chatting, Luo Ziling would always feel incredibly content, warm, and happy. If asked what he most looked forward to in life right now, he would not hesitate to say, spending time with Yang Qingyin, whether playing or chatting, nothing more.
While Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin sat in a teahouse enjoying their tea and conversation leisurely, in another teahouse not far from where they were, Ling Ruonan and Ouyang Feifei were also sitting together, drinking tea and talking.
Of course, the two women were discussing matters related to Luo Ziling.
“President Ouyang, thank you for rushing to the police station and taking Ziling out,” Ling Ruonan began with gratitude as soon as they met and explained why she hadn’t interfered in the matter sooner: “I had gone to Europe the day before yesterday, and only returned yesterday. After taking a direct flight to Central China, I inspected the work in Jiangcheng and then headed to Yangcheng. I never expected such an incident to happen while I was on the flight to Yangcheng.”
“Who would have thought Mr. Ling would be so concerned about his safety!”
“He is my son, and I’ve owed him so much over these years.” Ling Ruonan sighed softly, “It’s too late for me to make amends. His journey to Yanjing was not easy, and there will surely be more troubles ahead. Therefore, I can only have people beside him to watch over every move he makes, to prevent any accidents. If anything were to happen to him, I… I wouldn’t even have the courage to live on!”
“I am truly sorry about the last incident,” Ouyang Feifei sincerely apologized. Ling Ruonan didn’t treat her with a raging attitude; instead, she thanked her upon meeting and then proceeded to speak amiably, sharing some matters with her. Ouyang Feifei felt much better about this and then told Ling Ruonan about the resolution: “Later, Li Jiacheng and his son Li Dongjun personally apologized to him. He asked me to claim compensation on his behalf. I felt that after such humiliation, he shouldn’t be shortchanged, so I demanded ten billion yuan in compensation for him. In a few days, this amount will be credited to his account. It’s just that I’m not sure whether I should give the money to him or to you, Mr. Ling!”
In front of others, Ouyang Feifei was usually sparing with words, seldom speaking so much at one time. But meeting Ling Ruonan for the second time, she had to exert herself to explain certain things, which made her quite uncomfortable internally. However, as long as Ling Ruonan did not take it to heart, she was willing to accept.
Ling Ruonan was quite surprised that Luo Ziling had entrusted Ouyang Feifei with the matter of claiming compensation, but after some thought, she understood.
Luo Ziling had no prior exposure to these matters and being inexperienced in the world, he could not have proposed suitable terms. Leaving it to Ouyang Feifei was actually the wisest choice. Ling Ruonan believed that Luo Ziling also understood this, which is why he entrusted Ouyang Feifei with the responsibility.
What Ling Ruonan did not expect was Ouyang Feifei boldly demanding ten billion yuan in compensation for Luo Ziling.
The number was a bit staggering, even for Ling Ruonan, who had experienced many things, and it shocked her.
“His life is worth far more than this amount!” Upon seeing Ling Ruonan’s surprised expression, Ouyang Feifei couldn’t help feeling a bit smug, but she still explained nonchalantly.
At that moment, Ouyang Feifei’s assistant Wang Qing knocked and entered, and in Ling Ruonan’s presence, she reported an issue to Ouyang Feifei: “Miss, we have clarified the situation; last night’s incident was orchestrated by Li Jiaqing!”
“Li Jiaqing?”
Both Ouyang Feifei and Ling Ruonan expressed their surprise aloud.
