Chapter 59 - Yu Meng: I Am Now Lu Li's Woman
Chapter 59 - Yu Meng: I Am Now Lu Li\'s Woman
If killing the despicable Ye Chen could clear up the misunderstanding, then his death would be worth it. It was all Ye Chen’s fault, his actions had led to the misunderstanding with her big brother. By eliminating him, she could prove herself to her big brother.
“Really…” Ye Chen didn’t doubt her words, letting out a resigned sigh, “In that case, you should go back overseas for a while, lay low until I take care of the mess.”
Upon learning that Lu Li hadn’t laid a hand on Zhao Lu, Ye Chen momentarily abandoned his intent to kill Lu Li. After all, the Lu family was a renowned name in Hangzhou, and having them focus on him would only bring trouble.
It wasn’t fear, but considering he hadn’t fully established himself domestically, complications could arise. So, he had only tasked Yu Meng with digging up dirt on the Lu Corporation. Now, with Lu Li daring to make a move on his woman and ending up dead, it was just one less problem.
“Ye Chen, I have something to tell you.” Suddenly, Yu Meng flashed a stunning smile, her alluring face radiating charm, the murderous intent in her eyes fleeting.
Ye Chen felt his heart skip a beat, then a wave of joy washed over him. Had Yu Meng finally been moved by him, confessing her feelings as they were about to part? Maybe tonight, the woman he longed for would finally become his.
“Cough, cough, go on, I’m listening. I was indeed rash this time, I shouldn’t have sent you to Lu Li. Whatever compensation you need, just say it.” His gaze, slick and greasy, fixed intently on Yu Meng.
Even as her heart swelled with murderous intent, Yu Meng felt nauseated by Ye Chen’s self-absorbed posture. Her heart, her body, belonged to her big brother. Being coveted by someone like him only disgusted her.
“I want to tell you…” Yu Meng lowered her head, reducing her volume.
“What?” Ye Chen had to lean in to hear her.
“I am now Lu Li’s woman.” She sneered, delivering the words that shattered Ye Chen’s composure.
Yu Meng knew of Ye Chen’s possessiveness over the people close to him. He could never accept that his woman had been with another man…
In an instant, Ye Chen’s pupils constricted, as if his heart was about to burst, a torrent of rage swirling within him.
At that moment, Yu Meng’s dagger, previously concealed in her sleeve, was in her hand, slashing mercilessly towards Ye Chen’s neck.
Caught off guard by Yu Meng’s sudden attack and still reeling from the shocking news, Ye Chen could barely react. As he saw the blade coming, his pupils shook violently, and with no weapon in hand, he instinctively raised his arms to block Yu Meng’s strike.
A scream followed as Ye Chen’s little finger and ring finger fell to the clean floor.
“Yu Meng, what are you doing…” Clutching his hand, ready to fight, Ye Chen growled at Yu Meng in shock and anger.
“As long as I kill you, big brother will accept me again, and I can stay by his side. Ye Chen, you must die!” Yu Meng, undeterred by her missed strike, lunged forward with her knife again.
Without a weapon and caught by surprise by Yu Meng’s sudden assault, Ye Chen could only defend himself awkwardly. Yu Meng, second only to him in skill within their organization, was not someone he dared claim he could defeat under these circumstances.
Glancing around, and seeing Yu Meng about to attack again, he rolled out of the window, escaping.
Despite his rage and sense of betrayal, he knew continuing this fight would only end badly for him. His instincts, honed on the battlefields of the Middle East, had saved his life more than once.
Watching Ye Chen disappear into the night, Yu Meng’s expression turned grim. Damn Ye Chen, damn Ye Chen. Why couldn’t he just let himself be killed easily? His pathetic life was just a tool for me to regain my big brother’s trust.
“Because of you, damn bastard, I was misunderstood by my big brother. You killed my big brother, Ye Chen, I will kill you.” Yu Meng remembered the despair of losing Lu Li in her previous life, a desolation she didn’t want to recall. Now that her big brother was still here, she would do anything to hold onto him.
That day, on the bustling streets, that big boy who gently asked if she needed help, in the orphanage, when she covered big brother’s eyes to ask when he would come again, her big brother was the most beautiful light in the heart of her, a small orphan, something she wanted to grasp for her entire life. No matter what her big brother did, she would never blame Lu Li.

“Looks like your body is recovering well, that’s good, won’t affect going to work.” Lu Li said quite gracelessly to Chen Xiaoyi at the breakfast table.
“Damn capitalist, calling me ‘baby’ yesterday, and today it’s about not affecting work!” Chen Xiaoyi muttered under her breath as she delicately ate her breakfast, casting a gloomy glance at Lu Li.
“Drink more of this chicken soup; having the boss make soup for you, you’re quite the lucky employee!” Lu Li suddenly chimed in.
Chen Xiaoyi paused, feeling a warmth spread through her heart. Without a word, she got up, poured herself a large bowl of chicken soup, and drank it down. It was delicious!
“Look at you, eat up! After you’re done, go wrap up the Zhao Corporation thing. Your position could be moved up a notch.” Lu Li smiled gently, his approach subtle yet impactful, aiming to touch her heart without leaving any trace.
“…Lu Li, it’s not necessary, I’m already doing well.” The man in front of her had covered her debts, provided her with care, and even arranged a job for her. He had done enough.
“Those people at the company have their opinions.”
“Hmph, I’ve had you busy for a month, I’ve already done the face-saving work for them, who dares to complain! The size of the role one should play aligns with their abilities, it’s only fair.” What face-saving work? Lu Li had intentionally placed Chen Xiaoyi at the grassroots to test her, partly to check if she could reach the heights depicted in the story.
On another note, it was also a reality check for Chen Xiaoyi.
“Besides, you’re my woman now, is there a problem with me treating you a bit better?”
Chen Xiaoyi’s eyes welled up. For her, Lu Li’s simple declaration of “my woman” meant more than any sweet nothings.
