Chapter 456 - We Still Have More Than Half a Lifetime
The waiter saw Xiao Yunyun’s action and moved quicker. He served Xiao Yunyun two breakfasts in less than two minutes.
Su Jianan saw the scene. She admired Xiao Yunyun’s politeness when she was so angry. But on the other hand, she carefully asked, “Yunyun, did you order the other breakfast for Yuechuan?”
Xiao Yunyun became furious right away and fiercely tore the bread apart. “I only want to comfort my heart which was scared yesterday! Shen Yuechuan? He’d better be starved to death! Why would I get a breakfast for him?”
“...” Su Jianan realized that Xiao Yunyun was about to explode so she pulled Lu Boyan to leave without saying anything.
They had been on the island for a few days. Lu Boyan didn’t accompany them for too long because he had to deal with matters of the company. That day was the weekend; he could finally give himself to Su Jianan for an entire day. He asked her, “Where do you want to go?”
“I don’t want to think about it.” After the pregnancy, Su Jianan was too lazy to find excuses for herself. She said, “You should think about it.”
Lu Boyan smiled. “When will Xiaoxi arrive?”
That morning, Luo Xiaoxi sent Su Jianan a message, which included her flight information. Su Jianan took it out to have a look. “At about one o’clock p.m.”
“Just in time,” Lu Boyan said, “There is a small town on the island which will win your favor. We should hang out there. Then we can pick up Xiaoxi by noon.”
“Okay.” Su Jianan held Lu Boyan’s arm. “I will follow my husband’s proposal!”
Lu Boyan took Su Jianan to the motor boat. But that time, there was no pilot in it.
Su Jianan looked at the usual piloting space with doubts and confusion. “Can it work automatically?”
“That kind of motor boat has been invented yet.” Lu Boyan stopped for a second and raised his eyebrows. “Haven’t I told you that I can pilot it?”
“...” Su Jianan shook her head in disbelief.
She knew Lu Boyan was capable of doing many things, but steering a motor boat wasn’t one of them. So she asked curiously, “How do you manage to do it?”
“Sit still.” Lu Boyan held Su Jianan and helped her to sit down. “You will see it soon.”
Su Jianan sat down, full of expectation. Her chin was supported by her arm and her eyes were fixed firmly on Lu Boyan. In those eyes was endless uncovered affection.
She didn’t know about the design of a motor boat. She just saw Lu Boyan skillfully make some moves and the motor boat left the shore, obediently heading to the other end.
The morning breeze was fresh and the sea was calm. Every once in a while, there were white seagulls flying by the sea. Everything seemed peaceful and blessed.
Su Jianan saw that Lu Boyan didn’t have to operate the boat anymore and leaned on him. Then she wondered, “Don’t tell me that you can even navigate a plane.”
Lu Boyan looked at Su Jianan’s stomach, then said, “I can show you after half a year.”
He really could!
“Shocked” wasn’t enough to describe Su Jianan’s mood at the moment. She stared at Lu Boyan in a blank and started to talk after quite a while later, “Are you capable of anything else that I don’t know?”
Lu Boyan thought for a minute and frowned. “I’m afraid you don’t have the patience.”
Su Jianan was speechless. “Then don’t tell me.” She waited for a moment and curled her lips. “Anyway, we still have more than half of a lifetime to spend.”
More than half of a lifetime was long enough for her to witness Lu Boyan’s different kinds of cool skills.
Lu Boyan smiled and sped up. After forty minutes, the motor boat pulled in to shore and there was a black Land Rover waiting for them there.
After Su Jianan’s pregnancy became obvious, Lu Boyan stopped driving a car altogether. The reason was that Land Rovers were more spacious and more comfortable for Su Jianan to sit in.
There was a disadvantage along with the advantages. The Land Rover had a high chassis, which made it difficult for Su Jianan to get in and get out when her belly was getting bigger.
But that was not a problem for Lu Boyan—he personally carried Su Jianan in and out.
After quite a while, Su Jianan was still not used to being taken care of like that, especially when the fishermen looked at them. They had no evil intentions, but the smile on their faces made her uncomfortable.
Maybe they couldn’t understand that kind of intimacy.
Lu Boyan fastened the safety belt for Su Jianan and noticed her shy expression. He felt pretty good about it and kissed her lips.
Su Jianan’s face became red all of a sudden and took a look at the fishermen. As she expected, they smiled more happily. And she could only stared at Lu Boyan.
“They don’t know us.” Lu Boyan gave Su Jianan an eye to make her feel relaxed and closed the door for her.
It was a ten-minute drive from the beach to the town.
The small town was a quaint and well-known place of interest there. But it didn’t attract any developers because it wasn’t hot on the Internet. The town kept its primary appearance and natural style, which Lu Boyan knew would win Su Jianan’s favor.
Su Jianan didn’t let Lu Boyan down. She looked surprised the minute she got out of the car. She held Lu Boyan’s sleeve to ask, “How did you find this spot?”
“When I was developing the island,” Lu Boyan said, “After the island was opened to the tourists, the town would be full of tourists too. That is also the reason why we could develop the island smoothly.”
It sounded like the island and the town were reciprocal. Su Jianan suddenly thought that everything was alright.
In fact, there were still many latent dangers in their lives.
There was a cafeteria downtown which was at operating. It was in an old decorated house, which made it look very old-school. Su Jianan pulled Lu Boyan’s clothes. “Let’s get in to have a rest.”
“Okay.” Lu Boyan took Su Jianan’s hand. But after a few steps, the smile by his lips was frozen.
Su Jianan didn’t neglect that small reaction. She asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Lu Boyan smiled as if nothing was wrong. He took Su Jianan into the cafeteria and took out a stack of cash. “Hi, I’d like to book the whole place.”
Su Jianan didn’t plan to sit for too long so there was no need to clear the place. But she didn’t stop Lu Boyan—she had guessed that something was going on.
As expected, the boss took over the money and someone pushed the door from outside. Almost at the same time, Lu Boyan used his body to firmly cover Su Jianan and calmly looked at the boss. “I don’t want anyone to disturb my wife and me.”
“I understand.” The boss smiled. He walked out and said to the few people who wanted to get in. “Sorry, please don’t come in. The whole place has been booked.”
Su Jianan hid in Lu Boyan’s arms. She lifted her head and looked at him anxiously. “Who is it?”
“They must be Kang Ruicheng’s men.” Lu Boyan protected Su Jianan. “Don’t worry. They won’t dare to do anything.”
Su Jianan was not afraid since Lu Boyan was there. She nodded and followed Lu Boyan to the seats.
That time, Lu Boyan didn’t choose the seats with a good view. Instead, he chose private and safe seats. Though Su Jianan sat on the couch, her body was still firmly blocked by Lu Boyan because of the angle.
Lu Boyan used one hand to hold Su Jianan’s and the other hand dialed Shen Yuechuan’s number. He asked soberly, “We’re in the Milu Cafeteria on the center of Qinghe Street. Call up some people to take care of Kang Ruicheng’s men.”
Su Jianan subconsciously held Lu Boyan’s hand tightly.
“Don’t be scared.” Lu Boyan’s voice contained a comforting strength. “Our people are not far from here.”
“I’m not scared of that.” Su Jianan bit her lips. “Over the past few months, Kang Ruicheng hasn’t done anything. Why is he following us now?”
There was a short sign of coldness in Lu Boyan’s eyes which disappeared quickly. Su Jianan didn’t notice it. She had no way to notice it.
He just slightly smiled. “Maybe... he can’t do anything to us, so he just wants to know what we are doing?”
The fact, of course, wasn’t that simple.
But Lu Boyan couldn’t tell Su Jianan that her worries were right. Kang Ruicheng’s sudden action meant... he would make large movements soon.
However, Kang Ruicheng’s capabilities were limited in a short period of time. He could only deal with one person, while confronted by Lu Boyan and Mu Sijue.
As for whether Kang Ruicheng was aiming at him or at Mu Sijue, it was difficult to say. So there was no need to say it out to scare Su Jianan.
Su Jianan thought it wasn’t as easy as Lu Boyan said. But she couldn’t figure it out. So she had to choose to believe in what Lu Boyan said. “That’s why I said he was a sociopath.”
“Even if he really wants to do something, I won’t let him hurt you.” Lu Boyan tightly covered Su Jianan’s hand in his palm. “Jianan, don’t be afraid.”
Su Jianan smiled, “As long as you’re here, I’m not afraid at all. But I have a bad feeling.”
Lu Boyan lifted his eyebrows in doubt. “Um?”
“I can’t say it directly.” Su Jianan lifted her chin distressfully. “I always feel something about to happen, either to us or Youning and Yunyun.”
Lu Boyan kept quiet for a while and said seriously, “It already happened. This morning, Yunyun walked out from Yuechuan’s room.”
Su Jianan tried to resist but failed. She laughed out loud and the anxiety gradually faded from her heart.
Even if her feeling was right, she didn’t have to worry once Lu Boyan was there.
At the time, the boss took a cup of coffee and a cup of milk tea over, placing them in front of Su Jianan and Lu Boyan. Then he said, “Sir, those people have left.
The boss just finished speaking when someone else pushed the door. He asked instantly, “These two men...”
“They are my friends.” Lu Boyan said, “Let them in.”
The man and the woman were those protecting Su Jianan recently. The minute they went in, they wanted to ask about the conditions. But Lu Boyan lifted his hand and said, “There’s nothing right now.”
The girl nodded assuredly. “Mr. Lu, we should follow you and your wife. Brother Yuechuan just investigated. There seemed to be quite a few people here in the town belonging to Kang Ruicheng.”
Lu Boyan didn’t oppose. He rested for a moment and stretched his hand to Su Jianan. “It’s time to leave.”
Su Jianan wasn’t afraid either. She gave her hand to Lu Boyan. “Where will we go next?”
Lu Boyan smiled. “To a place where no one can track us down.”
