Chapter 72 (I just Like to See You Get Angry) Wanxin Gave Wenxi a Hardtime

Today, when Lin Wenxi stood at the entrance to the restaurant together with another part-time doorman, they bowed more frequently than usual and felt exhausted. After some observation, Lin Wenxi noticed that some customers just kept coming in and out all the time.

Zhao Yuan, who was worried that the hospital would not give his father prompt treatment before it received some money, asked for a leave, and went to the hospital to pay some of his father’s medical expenses. As such, Lin Wenxi had to rely on himself to solve this problem now. He kept wondering, “What would Zhao Yuan do if he was here?” When he spotted the sarcastic smiles on their faces, he came to realize that these people were hired by someone to give him a hard time. He stopped bowing to them. Although he was annoyed, he still managed to keep smiling.

One of these strange customers shouted at him, “Hey, how can you treat your customers so coldly? You even didn’t say anything to greet us!”

Lin Wenxi remained calm as he knew that real customers of this high-end restaurant would never make a fuss over such a trifle. After all, he remained polite and smiled at them all the time. Upon seeing their reactions, he knew for sure that these strange customers had come here to make trouble for him. After some thought, he took out his cellphone and took a few pictures of them.

They were surprised and surrounded him while asking, “Hey! What’re you doing? Why did you take pictures of us? What’re you up to?” Lin Wenxi took out 500 yuan from his pocket, which was all his savings, and said flatly, “Who tells me the truth first will get paid first.”

Someone immediately pointed a finger at a cafe across the road and said, “The girl who’s sitting in the cafe over there hired us!”

Lin Wenxi looked at the girl sitting by a French window and recognized the light-yellow coat which Chen Wanxin often wore. He was sure that this girl was Chen Wanxin and got furious. He threw the money at that person and ran toward the cafe.

Upon seeing that, Chen Wanxin flushed with anger and pushed the young man sitting beside him, while saying sarcastically, “That’s your brilliant idea!” With these words, she stood up and walked toward the back door of the cafe, planning to flee the place. She had flown into a rage the moment she knew that Lin Wenxi and Zhao Yuan worked together at this restaurant. She believed that it was Lin Wenxi who deliberately followed Zhao Yuan here. As she knew that Zhao Yuan asked for a leave today, she came here and asked her driver Luo Yang to think of a way to make Lin Wenxi suffer.

Luo Yang found several real estate sales agents, who were nicely dressed but could not earn much money during a day. He gave each of them 200 yuan and asked them to keep coming in and out of the restaurant to give Lin Wenxi a hard time. He had never expected that Lin Wenxi would have taken out 500 to buy the truth.

The moment Chen Waxin walked out of the cafe, she ran into Lin Wenxi. She shouted, “If you don’t go back as soon as possible, you’ll be fired.” She was quite impressed by the nicely-dressed Lin Wenxi and thought to herself, “I would get along well with this pretty boy if he didn’t want my boyfriend.”

“Why do you do this to me?” asked Lin Wenxi.

“I, I just like to see you get angry.” Chen Wanxin smiled and added, “Why do you have to follow Zhao Yuan here and do this part-time job together with him?”

“Firstly, I’ve no choice. The work-study program offers me only this part-time doorman job and a part-time flyer distributor job! I have to stand all day long here. Do you think that I enjoy doing this job? Secondly, I didn’t follow Zhao Yuan here. Even if I did, what does that have anything to do with you? How can you play such a contemptible trick on your classmate? Aren’t you a well-educated university student?” Lin Wenxi was filled with indignation.

“With you being around, Zhao Yuan won’t love me wholeheartedly! I’ve done so much for him. What about you? What did you do?”

“When he needs me, I’ll be there. When he doesn’t need me, I’ll quietly walk away. I don’t want anything from him. If you really think that it’s I who hinders you from getting him, just continue to play these ridiculous pranks on me and put on an act to embarrass yourself,” Lin Wenxi replied grumpily and ran back toward the restaurant while considering how to explain his absence to the manager.

Unfortunately, no matter how he explained to his manager, his manager still decided to fire him according to the rules.

“Do you really think that you can do whatever you want, Chen Wanxin? Do you really think that you can bully me like that? I’ll be able to make your restaurant get closed down,” Lin Wenxi thought furiously and wanted to call Hong Xuan immediately. On second thought, he gave up this idea, as he was well aware that neither Hong Xuan nor Lin Ziwei would allow him to reveal his identity or use their power to do such a thing. They even had not done anything to help him when he got detained in the police station of Yangzi County during the spring festival.

Lin Wenxi felt like a loser.

He had spent all his wages. He had bought only a few books for himself and given himself a treat for just a few times. He had wasted most of his money on the strange customers who were actually hired by Chen Wanxin. To make the matter worse, now he could only work as a flyer distributor, as the work-study program did not offer a tutor job or something else.

Lin Wenxi sat silently all day long while feeling depressed. Fortunately, he did not lose his temper over trifles now. As long as he did not show everyone a sullen face, Zheng Kai would not have a problem with him. Wang Xiang knew that he could never defeat Lin Wenxi in argument and did not want to talk with this moody boy now. Gu Xi took Lin Wenxi to different piano stores, trying to make him feel better. Zhao Yuan quit the part-time doorman job upon knowing that Lin Wenxi got fired.

As Zhao Yuan had four part-time jobs now, he did not have much time to stay inside his dorm or even attend the lectures. Fortunately, his friends took turns to answer the roll calls for him. As such, he did not have much trouble in the university. His first part-time job was the assistant coach of the basketball class of the university. Although there were not many basketball classes, the pay was good. He also worked as a part-time salesman in the computer market and a part-time martial arts instructor. To help his students practice martial arts, he often got beaten up, but he felt that it was alright. His fourth part-time job was a waiter at a bar.

The manager of the restaurant, where he had once worked as a doorman, introduced him this waiter job. To thank the manager, Zhao Yuan gave him a treat and helped him train the new doormen.

The bar where Zhao Yuan worked was named MO Capital. It was the largest all-night bar in the city and located on the top floor of a 40-story building in the downtown area of the ciTy. There was a well-decorated revolving restaurant inside the bar. As such, when you stayed inside the bar, you could enjoy the night view of the entire city. This bar was one of the five franchised bars owned Mo Cheng. The other four bars were MO Night, MO Fall, MO Sky and MO World. Only a few people knew that this Mo Cheng was the most powerful man in the city, whose name was Mo Qian.
