Chapter 11 - 11 - On My Own, Alone

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 - On My Own, Alone

An orb-shaped light appeared around him; it was Polly, the spirit. As the orb of light descended to the ground, a three-tailed fox materialized. The fox, Polly, looked up at Broken and was silent for a few moments.

"Hey, Polly," Broken said, sitting cross-legged and observing the little fox. "How are you?"

"Hey, Master..." Polly whispered. She didn\'t speak much unless prompted. She seemed to be a shy character, which suited Broken, who also didn\'t talk much.

"What are you planning to do, Master?" Polly inquired quietly.

"There\'s a lot to do, and I\'m really enthusiastic about all of it," Broken replied calmly. "I need to get to the nearest town soon, but before that, I need to check all the stats and items I have after the goddess Akidia appointed me as the Divine Champion."

Broken examined the map in his system and spotted a Shrine of Regeneration within a reasonable walking distance from his current location. This shrine had the special ability to enhance the regeneration rate for players who stayed nearby. As a result, the area was often bustling with NPC merchants and players who had set up shop.

There, he could find something he might need for the journey to the nearest town. He could also sell items he no longer needed and start focusing on his new plan.

"If I walk to the nearest town, it might take two hours. I\'ll have to hide and run from any monsters I encounter," he said to himself. "I need to go to the Shrine of Regeneration. Maybe I can find some merchants there who could offer me the supplies I\'m looking for, or even some companions who might be heading to the town too," he concluded.

"Master..." Polly whispered, her eyes calm as they gazed at Broken.

"Do you have any other ideas, Polly?" he asked.

"You can reach that place faster if you ride me. I have a larger form, and you can sit on my back. I\'ll help you navigate this ancient forest safely," Polly suggested.

Broken recalled what Polly had mentioned before. She had a larger form, though he wasn\'t sure how large it would be. Given Polly\'s higher level, she could certainly help him fend off monsters. However, he wondered why a Unique-grade spirit had a level below 100 when it should have been around 200.

Perhaps this was the game\'s way of balancing, giving him a spirit whose level wasn\'t too far above his. But no worries, Polly\'s level could still be increased, and she should be able to gain experience from monster hunting.

He smiled broadly and replied, "I think that\'s a great idea, Polly. Please show me your larger form."

Polly leaped around, and a magic circle appeared beneath her feet. Her white body was enveloped in light, rapidly growing to the size of an adult horse, though she still looked like a young fox with three shining tails gracefully swaying. As she looked at Broken, she said, "Master, I\'m ready."

Broken was amazed at Polly\'s larger form. He walked closer, rubbed her head, and smiled. Polly closed her eyes and nuzzled her head against his cheek. "Thanks, Polly."

Broken immediately jumped onto Polly\'s back, positioning himself comfortably. To his surprise, it was quite comfortable to sit on the fox\'s back. "Let\'s go, Polly."

The fox took off, dashing through the trees as Broken directed her.

"Oh, this is so fun..." he laughed, exhilarated by his first ride in Yunatea. The wind blew through his hair as Polly gracefully hopped between the massive roots and trees.

In Immortal Legacy, the speed of movement on foot was limited and only affected by the Basic Stat Agility. Consequently, classes that could maximize this Agility stat demonstrated remarkable movement speed in battle.

For classes that didn\'t benefit from the Basic Stat Agility, they could use certain skills to leap, accelerate their motion, or employ mounts they obtained during their adventures.

Movement speed was crucial in this game due to the vast layout of the map, which required significant time to explore, especially when traveling between towns, kingdoms, or even continents. The world was so expansive, with only a small fraction explored by players worldwide.

"I remember something." At this moment, Broken suddenly remembered. "Speaking of movement speed," he thought to himself, "I haven\'t checked my latest status yet. Let me take a look."

[Name: Broken

Level: 25

Class: Common Warrior

Health: 850 Mana: 600

Strength: 100 Agility: 52 Intelligence: 50 Constitution: 85 Stamina: 79

Charisma: 50 Luck: 20

Available Stat Points: 0

Weight: 332/600]

Broken smiled slightly as he reviewed his overall stats. After gaining a +10 boost to all his basic stats, his overall stats had increased drastically. It was incredible. His total stats were clearly higher than the average player at level 25, possibly comparable to those at level 30.

However, the stats displayed in the system were a combination of the player\'s base stats and the stats provided by their equipment, including armor, weapons, and accessories. Unfortunately, Broken wasn\'t using any notable armor at the moment, so the stats shown on his system were only his base stats without any equipment boosts.

"Ten extra points for each Basic Stat is an amazing reward."

Gaining such a significant stat boost was incredibly valuable, especially for higher-level players, as leveling up became progressively harder. Thus, stat points were precious to every player.

In addition to this, Broken also received two Special Stats. The difference between Basic Stats and Special Stats was that Available Stat Points obtained from leveling up or completing quests could only be spent on Basic Stats, while Special Stats had unique methods for increasing them.

[The Charisma stat will provide a greater affinity boost when interacting with NPCs and a higher success rate when using social-related skills.]

[The Luck stat will increase the probability of success in various endeavors. The success rate will be influenced by factors such as the player\'s level, the level of the related skill, the difficulty of the task, and other elements.]

Broken would greatly benefit from the Luck stat, especially in relation to his Passive Skills obtained after becoming a Divine Champion, such as Bountiful Harvest, Quality Enhancement, and Quest Advancement, all of which relied on chances. With the Luck stat, he had a greater chance of activating these skills.

However, to experience the impact of the auto-leveling provided by the Title of Sloth Champion, he would need to wait a while to see how quickly his leveling progress advanced.

For now, Broken was only using an Iron Armor set that didn\'t have significant value, providing only a modest boost in defense. But he did have one sword that was quite decent.

Satisfied with his review, Broken felt more prepared for his journey ahead.

"Let me check how many coins I have right now."

[Coins: 0 gold 27 silver 43 bronze]

The value of gold was one hundred silver pieces, and the value of silver was one hundred bronze pieces. Each bronze piece was equivalent to ten cents ($0.10). Therefore, one silver piece was worth $10, and one gold piece was worth $1000.

Due to Immortal Legacy having its own currency, some companies offered exchange services that converted the nominal value into dollars, though the rate could vary depending on both external and internal game factors.

So, for convenience, players could use in-game currency for transactions outside the game and vice versa. Wealthy individuals could easily grow stronger in the game by topping up their in-game currency with real money. Meanwhile, players like Broken had to work hard to earn in-game money to convert into real currency for their needs outside the game.

"My overall in-game money is worth around $270, I think," he said optimistically. "I don\'t think I\'m short of coins, right? I usually convert them into cash, but it looks like now it\'ll be even more convenient to get coins. Isn\'t that fascinating?"

"I guess I should be more disciplined in how I spend the money I have and only buy what I need initially so I can get the most out of all my resources."
