“No, I’m feeling very uncomfortable with you being here!”
Tang Ka’s face was red as if it were on force, and an uncanny force pushed Li Yao’s soul out of his brain. “Why don’t you take a rest outside and come back later? The monitor is coming!”
“Wait, where do you want me to take a rest at?”
Li Yao raised his voice and said, “My young friend, let’s make things clear. You’re probably involved in an evil and shameless scheme, and I’m carrying out a mission that concerns the peace of the universe and the future of mankind, which is something very serious. Neither of us should have irrelevant thoughts. Hey, wait, stop pushing me. Don’t be so rejective, or the synchronization rate between our nerves will be affected, and I’m going to be kicked out… friend, kid, little b*stard!”
Despite him shouting, dozens of dazzling electric arcs were generated in Tang Ka’s brain and pushed his soul out determinedly.
Hiu! Hiu! Hiu! Hiu!
Li Yao lost his senses when he was cast out. He was back to the deep, dark bottom of the ocean, where everything was dark and quiet. He almost couldn’t see or hear anything anymore..
The failsafe system that Xiaoming and Wenwen had bound to his soul was immediately activated. Like a thin, long, and elastic rope, it pulled his soul all the way back through millions of lightyears back to his own shell in the Gold Crystal Pyramid in the Empyreal Terminus Sector.
“Hiss—”
As if he just had the deepest dream, Li Yao sat up from the thick neural interaction fluids. It was not until a long time later that his soul resumed control over his body.
His eyes were focused again, and he felt the feeblest vibrations. He had returned to his world.
“Dad!”
Xiaoming and Wenwen stuck all kinds of sensors to Li Yao and examined his biophysical parameters. “Why were you away for so long? We were worried that your soul might not be able to return! How about it? Did you find a suitable sunspot? Have you found out the plan of the main forces of the Covenant Alliance?”
“I…”
Li Yao picked up a handful of neural interaction fluids. The thick liquid dripped through the gaps between his fingers like threads.
Controlling his own hands felt slightly different from controlling Tang Ka’s.
Spitting out a mouthful of saliva that was mixed with neural interaction fluids, Li Yao gradually remembered what happened in the previous day as his mind turned clearer. He rubbed his temples unhurriedly. “The swing went quite well. I found a very suitable sunspot. Although I haven’t found out the plan of the Covenant Alliance’s army or the Ultimate Benevolence Masters’ location, I’m very close, because that young man is involved in some sort of scheme, and theoretically speaking, every scheme requires a mastermind. As soon as the scheme and the mastermind are unraveled, I’m sure I will be able to track down the leadership of the Covenant Alliance.”
“Oh? Really?”
Xiaoming and Wenwen said excitedly, “The sunspot you chose is a young man? How did he react to your arrival? Did he suspect or resist you?”
“Not at all.”
Li Yao shook his head. “The young man trusted and admired me. He begged me to teach him ultimate techniques. However, you know that I can’t keep my soul millions of lightyears away 24 hours a day, and I need to come back to charge myself regularly to deal with unexpected situations.
“When I told him that I would be away for a while, that young man clung to my thigh and would not let me go!”
“Well…”
Xiaoming and Wenwen were suspicious. “Did you have a thigh?”
“My metaphorical thigh!”
Li Yao crawled out of the launch cabin and said, “I’m only saying that I’ve become a mental pillar for the little guy and won his absolute trust. Also, I’ve left some sort of spiritual beacon in his head, and it will be easier for me to land in his head next time.
“I’m so hungry after a night of hard work. Give me some food. Also, what’s the latest reports on the battles on the west and the east fronts? And what’s Long Yangjun’s progress in eliminating the Lurkers in the Imperium? Tell me!”
Although Xiaoming and Wenwen had injected a lot of nutrition into the neural interaction fluids, the energy absorbed through the skin and the veins was far from enough to meet the demand for a long-distance swing.
Therefore, Li Yao had to return to his shell once in a while to rest his brain and replenish himself with tremendous food and crystals.
The battle reports were hardly exciting.
On the east front, the army commanded by Lei Chenghu and Boss Bai secured two consecutive victories, and the remaining fleets of the four families could barely put up any resistance.
However, the four families simply retreated and deployed their troops on the habitable planets, as if they were going to fight the reformists’ army in street battles until all of them died.
Everybody knew that the morale of the four families’ army was not high enough to support street battles, but the reformists’ army did not have the time to fight a war of attrition against the four families either.
Lei Chenghu and Boss Bai’s blades were fast, but now that it had cut into such a stinky mess, the blades could not be drawn out anytime soon.
On the west front, which was the newly-recovered area that Li Yao’s soul just escaped from, the Covenant Alliance had attacked a couple of worlds near the Thick Soil Sector. Limited by their insufficient soldiers, the expedition army of the Imperium could only try to defend without being able to counterattack. It was even safe to say that the Covenant Alliance could take down any Sector if they really wanted it.
After his soul witnessed the catastrophic consequences of the war in person in Black Castle, Li Yao had a deeper understanding of the boring numbers on the battle reports.
Perhaps in the eyes of the leaders like Lei Chenghu or Li Linghai, the situations in the frontline were nothing but figures and charts.
But for Li Yao, the numbers represented the ordinary people who were deceived to go to the frontline for their dreams, only to be captured and brainwashed by the Covenant Alliance, the owners of the colorful but childish palm prints in the empty kindergarten, and also the natives of the Covenant Alliance who were taken away from their parents and who did not have a childhood or a future like Tang Ka.
He had to do something for them!
After chewing infinite Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures as fast as possible until his every cell was filled with explosive power, Li Yao took a deep breath and went into a deep sleep state again.
The super long-distance swing was so exhausting that he didn’t wake up until four hours later.
However, he couldn’t feel more energetic after he woke up. The whole world seemed to have turned clear in his eyes, and his spiritual power was soaring almost like mushrooms after a rain.
“Is this the Sunspot Plan and the Gold Crystal Pyramid’s effects on the training of the soul that Wuying Qi 3.0 mentioned?” Li Yao murmured to himself.
On second thought, it was quite reasonable. Few people in the whole Pangu universe were crazy enough to project their souls to millions of lightyears away for the most dangerous training like he did.
Only craziness could lead to progress.
His way of training was rare even for the top experts!
With that in mind, what was he waiting for?
Li Yao couldn’t wait to get into the head of the little guy named Tang Ka again!
The cocoon launch cabin was opened, and new neural interaction fluids were filled in. All the magic equipment was humming. Xiaoming and Wenwen made an “all set” gesture at Li Yao outside of the transparent cover. Li Yao took a deep breath and buried his head in the thick and warm liquid again.
He flew forward in the deep, dark chaos like a streak of light again.
However, there was a glittering star guiding his way in the infinite darkness this time, like a space gate navigating a starship. It was much less difficult and exhausting than the previous time. Very soon, Li Yao arrived at Tang Ka’s brain.
“Tang Ka, my young friend, are you done?”
Li Yao said delightedly, “I’m back. What a pleasant surprise it must be for you!”
“Huh?”
Tang Ka was stunned for a while and said in complicated feelings, “I… didn’t know that you would come back.”
“What are you talking about? It almost sounds like you don’t want me to return. Am I so unlikeable?”
Li Yao scanned the environment with Tang Ka’s eyes, only to discover that the young man and his monitor had already returned to the rendezvous point.
However, there was obvious tension in the rendezvous point, as Liao Meng was fighting another one of their classmates. The two boys were covered in dust and blood as they wrestled among the collapsed walls.
