Chapter 329 Small Talk-2
But he worried about the latter part of the sentence; it was not a big deal if his membership got canceled, but it was canceled because of his character issues.
And listening to the other party's tone, this matter would surely be notified to the royal family, which would launch their own investigation.
They were not a bunch of pushovers who would take it lying down, but when they found out that Salman had offended Samuel over a trivial matter, he had to take responsibility for it!
Offending a major political figure, coercing another influential young lady and, most of all, offending a member of the Rothschild family? His ranking would take a serious hit! Excluding him entirely was not of option too; he could even say anything just thinking about it.
Feeling helpless and desperate, he fled the scene in a hurry. Now he had bigger things to worry about than to fixate on Maia.
"Good." Samuel smiled widely, seeing him scurry away.
As for the other second generations, he did not pursue them. First, they just stood there, and none of them came out to make any comments.
Second, some individuals who recognized him had already distanced themselves from Kris for fear of the worse. They did look down at him, but that was common for these spoiled children!
It was also not good to be too heavy-handed; beating a donkey to death was right when you didn't even have a donkey. Samuel's situation was the same; he didn't want to be painted as a ruthless villain.
Under the leadership of Gergely, everyone was taken to a room that was full of French court decorations.
Gergely informed me that this room was exclusively for royal family members. Each room had only one owner. Others would be rejected without the owner's approval. Every room in the clubhouse was constructed with the most advanced sound insulation materials to ensure the absolute privacy of the members. It was not hard to make a leap from there.
At least this room looked 'normal.'
"What about Darren?" John asked.
"Leave him; he looked too happy with his company. I didn't want to disturb him." Samuel chuckled. He spotted his dear friend enjoying the company of some foreign girls; Samuel always wondered how that guy managed to converse and why he didn't even speak their language?
"Young master, I will look after him. You can enjoy with a peaceful mind." Gergely left, leaving three people inside the room.
Samuel motioned everyone to sit on the sofa and took a bottle of red wine from the dedicated bar. Um, Romanee-Conti, nothing beats the home-grown stuff!
The club had thoughtfully arranged everything; Gergely must have slipped some instructions when confronting others. It seemed like Gergely was a very competent fellow.
Samuel poured out three cups and handed them to Johnny and Kris. It was time to make amends.
"I believe that all of us started on the wrong foot earlier. Tonight, please don't mind your leanings and just treat each other as friends was have come together for a drink. How about it?" saying it, Samuel raised his wine glass.
Even though John and Kris didn't have any deep hatred, since their families were in different parties, they would definitely have to be hostile in future meetings.
As for now, Samuel was acting as a mediator, so they decided to give him some face; after all, his identity was too special to ignore.
"I'm fine." Johnny took the lead and raised his glass. After all, Samuel was his friend who rarely asked for something.
"Today, I can only say thank you, Samuel. I mean it." Kris also raised her glass. It could have been much worse for her, but he not only brushed it off but also helped her get rid of some baggage.
"cheers."
"cheers."
"cheers."
Samuel's motives were not entirely pure. He was thinking about the future when he approached Kris with a peace offering. He knew from his future knowledge that political parties came and went, but what mattered the most was to refrain from being swayed by them.
His family also employed such a strong stance of not wanting to get in the middle; it was better to have two friends than two enemies. Everything depends on one perception.
"I have to ask, are you going to make it public? You do know that it will go out." Kris couldn't help herself and decided to ask.
"I was worried about the same thing. You have been hiding it for years now." John sighed. He still thought Samuel was a little rash to pull the earlier stunt.
"It doesn't matter now. We set it that way because of the backlash the family would have received for monopolizing the role. But everyone had already seen my acting, It's safe to say it has some merit." Samuel shrugged.
If not today, it would have happened some other time; he couldn't keep the lid on it forever!
"If you say so."
"But since I am trending lately, they will keep it hush for now."
"Trending? Isn't it some media jargon?" John asked.
"Yes, now that you mention it. I lately started using social media too." Kris exclaimed. With the reckoning of smartphones, many applications started gaining some fame.
Samuel was already ahead of the curve by investing in many such ventures. All the major platforms are partially owned by his venture capital company.
"you don't know?"
"I hardly have time from my studies. This vacation is first time I went out in months!" John said frustratingly.
"I can tell, maybe that's why you don't have a girlfriend!" Samuel never understood how John could live like this.
Kris comforted her 'enemy' Johnny with a few words, and then the three started chatting wildly. They were a few years older than Samuel, but some of his insights surprised them.
Especially Kris, who looked at him with admiration. Her original perception was shattered once more; she thought he only had a strong family background and a strong demeanor in dealing with things, but she would never have expected him to be this smart too.
If Samuel wanted to make achievements in the future, he would definitely be turbulent wherever he went. It's too bad she didn't know about his side projects, or else she would take back those feelings.
Time flies quickly while they are talking. During the chat, Johnny and Kris also changed their views of each other. The other party was really less annoying than they thought.
Two hours later, Gergely returned with some news.
"Young master, Mr Darren has drank too much. I think we should move him to one of the rooms?"
Samuel looked at the time; it was almost eleven o'clock.
"No need, please escort him to our vehicle. Miss Kris, let's end it here. I would love to continue our conversation in the future."
"Of course, chatting with two of you is surprisingly enjoyable, and I am looking forward to our future meetings." Kris nodded as they parted ways.
The three of them came out of the club together. Darren was already blabbering, which would not go well with his mother, Audrey, so Samuel took him to his house. Gergely sent them off all the way to the entrance. He also informed me that that room would be his special room from now on.
Johnny sent the two home; the club provided a dedicated driver as they were all drunk. On the way home, Johnny also asked Samuel why he chose to do what he did with Kris.
To which Samuel only smiled but did not answer. John shrugged and did not ask for further explanation.
